Re: Americas Zone Group I 1st round: Ecuador at Canada (March 6-8, 2009)
It would most likley be Horna/Miranda. But both of them have not been healthy this year so we will have to wait and see. I do think Peter can beat these guys if he is healthy and like I said we have the big advantage in doubles but a lot still remains to be seen.
Peter is better on clay than HC, I don't know how but he is.

Frank can beat Miranda on clay too.
But I think we are forgetting that this tie is tied 1-1.

Yep.
Lets take care of Ecuador first.

Haha, definitely getting a bit ahead of ourselves. Maybe next we should discuss which team losing in WG 1st round we have the best chance to beat in the playoffs
I'm fairly confident at 1-1, though hopefully Frank will be able to show a little more toughness to close out the tie than he did today's match, definitely had some third set hiccups.
Interesting note from the CP article on the match:

The victory also secured Nicolas Lapentti the Ecuadorian Davis Cup record for most total wins and most singles wins, both of which he was tied for with Andres Guzman. Lapentti now boasts a 55-31 total win record and 37-15 total singles record.

Well done to him Hopefully he will get a couple of chances to add to his record against Uruguay

I wouldn't start discussing the match-up against Peru just yet This is a very close tie. Hopefully CAN can win it.

Yup, this tie is tight, but if Peru has Horna and Miranda and plays at home, neither Ecuador has a chance there.

We always assume doubles is gonna be easy (and it would be if we had Duclos instead of Niemayer), but with Fred you never know when he's gonna get hurt or just plain suck (which tends to be most of the time now)

Sound is very low again, thought they had that fixed
But the quick break, 1*-0 Canada

Please keep updating from times to times, Blarghman
It's Giovanni/Nicolas against Nestor/Fred?

Sure, I'll try and update often
And you're right about the players.
Ecuador saves 3 break points down 0*-2 0*-40, but can't save a 4th one, 3*-0 Canada lead
Let's make this a quick one

Vamos Ecuador
Sorry Canadian guys, I actually support Fred, Frank and Peter most of the times they play, but I just can't stop supporting Nico and Joven Giova

Re: Americas Zone Group I 1st round: Ecuador at Canada (March 6-8, 2009)
Niemeyer gets broken and Ecuador holds, 3*-2 Canada. Niemeyer will definitely be a weak link
