Default shoes are too tight? (Nike Vapor V)

hi all,

I'm a rookie at the tennis shoes matters, so please help me. I just bought (online) Nike Vapor V shoes, size 8.5, and I'm not sure if they are small for me or not. Should one's toes be really pressed together basically without a possibility to move up or sideways? I feel the shoes with each piece of my foot and toes. All my previous shoes were way too roomy for my toes, which was bad, but now that there's no room at all, I feel uncomfortable. I didn't try it on the court yet since if I do I won't be able to exchange them anymore, but when I'm walking at home -- on one hand I don't think I'm getting any blisters, but on the other my feet feel happy when I take the shoes off. Also, during the play, my feet probably will swell a little, won't they?

On the other hand, the length of the shoes is pretty much correct (if I try, I can feel the end of the shoe), and my feet are quite narrow, so that could mean that the shoes should be right for me. But why the heck do I feel like my feet are caged?

What would you recommend -- exchange them for 0.5 size larger, or does it sound like the proper fit?

P.S. there's a similar thread right here about Nike Vapor V, but my question is more generalistic about the fell/fit of any shoes

you're toes shouldnt be right up against the front of the shoe; ideally you want a small gap between your toes and the front. plus a tennis shoe is going to have a lot more cushioning in it that an ordinary shoe or trainer, so i always go up half a size for my nike tennis shoes
