Re: Amer 2009 cheering thread (the australian start)
What an awful draw for all qualifiers: Mathieu, Schuettler, Cilic or Berdych. Gonzalez retired and there is also his spot (vs Benneteau). But firstly Amer should win today

just go to edit the first post, then go to advanced, and you can change the thread title....
on his twitter, amer mentions going to rehab and how the clay can always get you, so I'm wondering if he got hurt during the match today

Re: Amer 2009 cheering thread- maybe some decent tennis on european clay? :o
Oh I hope he isn't injured again. No luck these Americans on clay. Firstly they hate it for the most part and secondly someone ( I am thinking Andy here) always seems to get hurt on it.

Well they get hurt b/c they don't practice enough on it and the movements are different from what their joints are used to. But yeah hopefully he's not hurt or if he is, it's nothing serious.
Twitter is pretty cool, for certain things.

Re: Amer 2009 cheering thread- maybe some decent tennis on european clay? :o
I think Amer is getting a little stronger, mentally. After he lost the game serving for the match and went down 0-30 at 5-5, I pretty much expected him to lose. He's had such a hard time closing out matches during his pro career and I thought he'd fall apart again.
But he pulled it together and won the match. I think he's making progress. The main thing holding Amer back from being a top-50 player, imo, is mental toughness and I think he's slowly improving in that area.
