David's 2009 schedule
I'm putting this up, since this was requested, so I guess it should be pinned replacing the 2008 version.
This is when I took a look at the tournament forums to check out the early commitments.
Some notes: - Masters Series events all have automatic entry except for Monte Carlo
- All of the tournaments listed below have been confirmed except where specified
- Just because a tournament isn't listed here doesn't mean that he won't play it, until entry lists for those tournaments have been released six weeks before the event starts.
- Like all players, he will have to fill up the mandatory count of four Open 500 events somewhere for the year, and there aren't many here so far.
Code:
January 12-18: Sydney (Open 250)
January 19 - February 1: Australian Open
February 16-22: Buenos Aires (Open 250)
February 23 - March 1: Acapulco (Open 500)
March 6-8: Davis Cup R1 vs Netherlands [withdrew]
March 11-22: Indian Wells (Masters 1000)
March 25 - April 5: Miami (Masters 1000)
April 13-19: Monte Carlo (Masters 1000)
April 20-26: Barcelona (Open 500)
April 27 - May 3: Rome (Masters 1000) [withdrew]
May 4-10: Estoril (Open 250)
It is not known whether David will play any
tournaments at the end of the year, but if he were to...
October 12-16: Shanghai (Masters 1000)
October 17-24: Stockholm (Open 250)
October 26 - November 1: Vienna (Open 250)
November 2-8: Basel (Open 500) *not confirmed
November 9-15: Paris (Masters 1000)

Re: David's 2009 schedule
It's interesting to see that he'll go back to playing Estoril.
Especially, as this means that in case he'd also play Monte Carlo and Barcelona (an obvious candidate for another 500 event) he'd have to play five weeks in a row.
As for the four mandatory 500 events, I think it's clear that he'll play Basel. Which will make it two with Acapulco. Playing Barcelona would mean five weeks in a row without pause. So maybe Washington and then Beijing or Tokyo? I mean, it's not like there are too many options left and I don't think he'll want to play Hamburg after Wimbledon.

Re: David's 2009 schedule
The entry list for Barcelona has come out, and seems like he will play that as well.
Also, an unofficial entry list has come out for Monte Carlo (I don't know how reliable this is) suggesting that he will be playing that as well. http://www.menstennisforums.com/show...56#post8258756
Although officially, the entry list comes out on March 16th so we'll know then for sure.

Re: David's 2009 schedule
If really plays both Monte Carlo and Barcelona, that'll be a pretty ambitious schedule.
Playing all the big clay court events plus Estoril and only having two weeks off from here to Roland Garros... But in case he thinks he's up for this then that would be a good sign, I guess.

Re: David's 2009 schedule
The " schedule" section is up on the official site again. Basically just listing all the Slams, the Masters events (including Monte Carlo) and the Davis Cup weeks. Plus, not surprisingly perhaps, Queen's Club, Stockholm, Vienna and Basel. Nothing about Barcelona, nor about another Open 500 tournament. Then again, that doesn't mean anything. Given how accurate and up-to-date that list has been in the past...
(Apart from that, the dates it gives for the Paris and Shanghai Masters are completely wrong. )

Re: David's 2009 schedule
Yeah I wouldn't use that as a reliable source. I think last year it just mainly listed all the Masters events, GS events and Davis Cup ties, and I know some people mistakenly read it as him not choosing to play anything or pulling out of events. What's with having the schedule of events that are not entirely confirmed, but not those of which are, and those in the near future?

David is also on MC website player's list...
What a busy schedule indeed. I wonder if he will really play Estorill..He could be very tired for Roland Garros

Re: David's 2009 schedule
David should skip Estoril. It's just an MM tournament that is not worth going to.
