With that win Marinko records his 10th win in a row and has only dropped 2 sets along the way which is very impressive. Next up for Marinko is the unseeded Gulbis who has only won one match at ATP prior to this week since the US Open. A potential semifinal match up also does not look as hard as it could be after Cilic was knocked out first round. Hopefully Marinko can put it all together and go even further in this tournament. It would be nice to have three players in the top 100 before the start of the next Davis Cup tie.

Very nice! Think Gulbis will take him out though.

Wonder why he didn't play between Caloundra and this week. Why not Memphis or San Jose earlier?

Maybe he wanted a rest. As he had to come through quallies here then IW quallies and Miami quallies. Or he could have just done a training block.

MM had a well earned rest before heading to Florida with Jonesie, where they had a training block. Word is they had a session with Todd Martin. Not sure what the connection with Martin is, perhaps Management Group. They then went to Delray for the qualies. Jonesie pulled out due to a knee injury (see draw sheet), so hope he will be ok.
Marinko can take out Gulbis, just needs to remain focussed and not get nervous (read: Kukushkin at Sydney).
Go Marinko...

Well done Marinko - thought he could deal with Gulbis. MMM is in good form, and if he maintains the rage, the concentration and is not too fatigued after coming through some tough matches and qualifying, he can take out Sela. Another tough nut to crack but he can do it.
Go Marinko...

Marisevic

Fighting match from Marinko. Served well below his best - at 50% for the match and below that for most of the match, but played the big points better.
Led all three sets by 3-1, 4-1 in the first and third sets, but Sela pegged him back to 4-4 in the first and second sets. Marinko had 2 match points at 5-3 serving for the match in the 3rd but could not convert. Then saved 3 break-points at 5-5, 0-40 and another before holding for 6-5. In the tie-break led 3-0 with 2 mini-breaks but then lost 4 pts in a row to go 3-4 down on serve. He broke Sela at 5-5 to lead 6-5 and have another match point, serving. Sela broke to level at 6-6. Marinko held and had match point on Sela's serve at 7-6. Sela held but Marinko broke for his fifth match point, this time closing it out and winning 5-7, 6-4, 7-6.

Awesome Marinko. Come a long way since that Kukushkin 1-5 loss match. Erased that bad memory.

Go for it in the final!!!
