Davydenko next, Nadal retired. I would have prefered Rafa over Davy cause he is such a good match up for David but no such luck.

I'd have preferred Rafa too.
David still has a positive record against Davydenko (5-4).
Despite losing to him at the DC semi.

What a weird day. First David's great match, but now Federer has pulled out and Rafa has retired...

There is some a good news, if he beats Davydenko and Tsonga not wining this he will remain in Top 10 And of course he will qualify for Shangai if he wins Paris.

Yeah, I was expecting to see a lot of tennis, and I'm still in the mood to watch more. Suddenly all of the potential scenarios for Shanghai have changed a lot, with Blake and Tsonga having good chances as well.

I would have preferred Nadal, not only because of the head-to-head record but he looked to be in extremely poor form against Monfils. ( that he won 6-3 6-2 anyway)

Excellent, that seems quite possible now, whereas before it was all kind of unlikely. Davydenko has been playing extremely well these last few matches though.

True; however, this is David's surface-and he's brimming with confidence. Let's hope he can overcome Davydenko and make it back to the final!

Saying all that, I did not expect David to give Murray much of a contest, never mind win, with Murray's current form and all. In any case, David defied my expectations and kept himself alive for a Shanghai berth.

Will he change his mind if winning the whole thing?
Any news or press conference about his attitude of TMC-Davis Cup now?

They asked him in the AMS TV interview after the Delpo match.
This time, he said he's "trying to be more focused on the Davis Cup, and not Shanghai".
But not that he won't go, anyway.

Great match. I like to watch him playing this way, so cool and determined to win. I think that there is a different look in his eyes when he is motivated to do the job. Wish him all the luck!!!

I am little bit scared of the fact that David did a helluva lot of running today. He might be tired and Denko is fresh as a daisy. If that is the case he should try to dominate the play and must not let Davydenko to get into rhythm, he is most dangerous when he gets his groove. But somehow I am not convinced in Nikolay's form. Nadal injured, Berdych has him as a worst possible match up anyway, out of form Ljubicic, so I don't think he was tested at all.
