Since its off season, lets lighten Kei's forum a bit.

Which tournament/s in the 2009 season are you most excited to see Kei compete?

List your top 5, your reason, and his possible result (i know its very difficult to predict as of now but lets just do it for fun)

1. French Open - As written on the article, Kei favors the clay surface, so i am very much excited to see him play this grand slam tournament. Of course i want him to win, but i'll be realistic, probably 3rd round, it'll be awesome if he reach 4th round.

2. Delray Beach - Simply because he is the defending champion. Outcome? No less than a runner up finish or a title defense.

3. Australian Open - It is the grand slam of Asia-Pacific, Asians must do well. I'll predict fourth round.

4. Stella Artois Tennis Championship - Its a grass surface, and he did well the last time. Result: Semifinals.

5. Any of the Masters Series Events - Aside from Project 45, Project 1000 is also mentioned and that is for the first masters series that kei will compete. For his first masters series, i think he'll surprise everyone and will have a Quater-final finish

The entry lists for the first week in 2009 (Doha/Chennai/Brisbane) should come out next Monday. Can't wait!

Kei used to say his favourite surface is clay because he can mix up his shots, but after playing Queens and Wimbledon he said he became fond of grass, too. And obviously his record on hard courts is very good; I think it's because he's been training in US. So his answere may become different when he's asked his preferred surface next time. That said, I also like clay best so I want him to do well on the red clay.

Definitely.
But the schedule is a bit tricky next year because there will be Davis Cup week between Delray Beach and Indian Wells...very inconvenient for Kei because the first round tie in the Aisa-Oceania Group will take place somewhere in the Asia Pacific.

My choice are the four grand slams and Monte Carlo, which is my most favourite tournament (although I've never been to).

Btw, Rafkei, maybe you can change the thread title to something like Tournament wishes? The current one may be a bit misleading and people may think it's an information thread about where he will be playing or has played. Sorry for being pucky!

in no particular order:

1. Aust Open - mainly because all grandslam have more tv coverage. And aussie open is on free to air tv here, suit my time. Predict: QF or better!

2. French Open - i want to see kei play on clay and this is the biggest stage. Predict: 4th round or better!

3. Wimbledon - 2009 champoin!

4. US Open - this plays quite exciting and since Kei train in the US, i think he'll preform well here. Predict: 1st rd or SF!

5. Hopman cup (exhibition) - because he missed this year's tournie...i enjoy watching mix doubles and Kei will increase Japan's chances! Predict: finish 1st/2ns in their group!
5. The Artois Championships now known as AEGON Championships - because it's grass and Kei did well in 2008. Predict: results better then 08!

Thanks Bunny for the comment, it would be no problem to change it. Was not aware earlier about how misleading the title could be.

1.Brisbane: First match in 2009!
2.Australian open: First GS in 2009!!
3.Delray Beach: Impressive tournament.
4.Wimbledon: I wanna see him on the grass, free from abs pain.
5.AIG open: The precious ATP tournament in Japan.

I would love to see him playing in Berlin, he would be one of the main reasons for me to go there, but well, we don't even have a challenger in contrast to other European capitals such as London, Rome, Paris, Madrid, Vienna etc.
