Re: Indoor Season 2008 - The Come Back!
The inevitable retirement against Fabrice today at 6-3 2-0
I haven't seen the official reason on ATP website yet, but it's probably the two blisters that have been bothering him since the begining of the week. (Not just typical blisters, some enormous ones!)
Hope he didn't just change a pair of shoes or something
It's a lot more uncomfortable and "painful" than most people realize! Take a quite some time to fully recover as well

Re: Indoor Season 2008 - The Come Back!
So the official reason for his retirement against was "illness" Sounds more manly than blisters, of course
Quote:

Elsewhere, Frenchman Fabrice Santoro reached his third ATP semifinal of the season after his compatriot Paul-Henri Mathieu retired due to illness with Santoro leading 6-3, 2-0. World No. 23 Mathieu reached his seventh ATP final in Metz last week (l. to Tursunov) and captured the Moscow title in 2002 (d. Schalken)...

I'm sure the below 10 degrees C in Moscow doesn't help nither does the super unzipped shirt
Now go get some clothes on, get some rest and drink plenty of fluid, Mr.Sunshine

He seems to have a lot of problems with his physical condition again. Personally, I don't care about Madrid anymore... let's move on to Bercy!

Re: Indoor Season 2008 - The Come Back!
Too early! I hate mornings.
Vamos Paulo, make my early start worthwhile.

Maybe the sky will fall?

Re: Indoor Season 2008 - The Come Back!
So Mr.Mathieu lost to Granollers 6-4 6-4. Let's just say that his opponent is a qualifier and he had some matches played on this court. And the guy won an ATP title, too... he's not the worst player to lose to considering
Paulo looked really flat today. (Are you bored, P-H? ) His shot... the pace is a lot different than what I saw in Metz.
Can't wait to get back to France where there's a lot more love

probably sick, no? If so, he should not have played. I never saw the benefit of playing through an illness. All this "tough-talk" is just crap.
