Davydenko def. Tursunov 6-2, 7-6(7-3), 6-3
Just another mug for Davy. He gets another one in the next round. He will almost certainly make the QFs.

Kolya will reach QF's before getting whacked by a new inspired Fedmeister

Re: Davydenko def. Tursunov 6-2, 7-6(7-3), 6-3
Such a bad match up for Tursunov this one, just constantly worked side to side by Davydenko and given no time to wind up the big forehand. Even when he did manage to deliver a crushing blow Davydenko would nearly always dig it back and end up winning the point.
I was surprised Tursunov didn't attack the pat-a-cake first serves coming at him, instead he was standing way behind the baseline and even then failed to get the ball back with any consistency. Frustrating to watch as a fan how brainless he can be out there sometimes. Still, congratulations to Davydenko for going deep into another slam. He has some of the best groundstrokes on tour when he is feeling confident, but the guy has such a fragile nature you feel he could collapse any minute. Glad I'm not a fan.

Am I the only one who thinks if this match was a month ago kolya would lose in straight sets?

No, you are not - I was quite worried about him due to that article that appeared where it was claimed that he said he had lost his motivation, and his bad results as of late. Apparently that motivation is back - at least for the USO. Good!
