It was the first round, maybe Monfils was rusty.
Not as though Monfils is a Nadal or Federer anyway. He is capable of throwing in some shocking sets.

Both have been struggling with injury this year, so its hard to make any conclusions about their hard court form this year.

Re: Sportingbet's Wednesday GIFT!
Frank Dancevic - Nicolas Almagro
I believe Dancevic can play better than his current record shows. Frank just was pretty unlucky so far - suffering from injury and bad draw. I still remember His win over Ancic in Toronto - where He hit winners from everywhere and fully outplayed Mario. Also solid performance against Djokovic should be taken in account. I'm sure He care about US Open, what I can't say about opponent. Almagro is just poor journeyman outside His spring clay season - I still remember His attitude in Wimbledon where He wasn't trying at all, laughing about his careless errors, not moving his ass at all. I think we can expect something similar today. So I hardly expect Almagro could catch his momentum in Flushing Meadows. Dancevic should clinch win here.
Pick: Dancevic
Odds: 2.10
Bookie: Boylesports
Stake: 6/10

Re: Sportingbet's Wednesday GIFT!
I think the first set will be extra crucial. It will probably go to a tie break and if Mugro loses that, he may throw in the towel, as he is not known for fighting outside of clay.

Re: Sportingbet's Wednesday GIFT!
Dancevic has a great chance today- his game should really suit the conditions big serve and big powerdull shots- will probably tail BG today on that one

Re: Sportingbet's Wednesday GIFT!
I'm all in on Dancevic (not that I've much money left after yesterday's bloodbath)

too late, mate. i jumped off haas to early yesterday. after that haas never looked in trouble to lose the match. was just painful to watch. missed my goal and a new balance high by a few inches. pisses me off after all the hard fighting i've done. you make right analysis and predictions and at the end you've nothing. sums up my career perfectly

It seems you're changing your mind a lot lately. Yesterday you said Haas was the play of the day and you were right but you jumped off early. Then earlier this thread you said you probably favour Mugro but now you're all in on Dancevic? Not saying what's right or wrong, just something I've noticed.
