Re: Backhands Tuesday
Hyung-Taik Lee - Andreas Seppi
Hmm... a little shock took me, when I see odds on this match. Seppi is priced as huge favorite, what is absolute no sense for me. Yes, Lee last results are bellow his level with some retirements. But It just can't last long, because Lee definitely isn't poor player especially on his favorite hard, where He got some success last year, beating Canas and Murray. But main reason for this bet is Seppi factor, because I don't see any reason, why He should be strong favorite here. His results aren't anything special - Andreas is typical up'n'down player, who just can't hold level all match. It means that every match with his participation is full of breaks, rebreaks etc - real rollercoaster in other words. And at these circumstances I can't see any strong favorite so I'm gladly take these odds on Lee, who has at least 35% to win this match.
Pick: Lee
Odds: 4.35
Bookie: Unibet
Stake: 4/10

Not convinced that Dominik can last 5 sets against GL. Hopefully proved right. Great win for Roko against Sweeting. Gl everyone

Russian commentators said yesterday that Youzhny has had 39 degrees temperature fever for 3 days and 90% he will withdraw from the tournament.

Re: Backhands Tuesday
Haas has been playing like a shithouse all year, Gasquet should win if he is any sort of form IMO.

his first and only 1st round exit came in 1996 in his first appearance. he reached the QF in 2006 and 2007. he loves this place, the crowd and the surface.

He loved playing in La, but that still didn't stop him from losing to Donald Young in the first round.
I would love Haas to win, but the Haas I saw in DC who got hammered by Del Potro and in Indianapolis who folded pathetically against Simon isn't getting the job done today.

why do you compare normal tournaments with grand slams? the situation is different.

Sampras loved Wimbledon, but it didn't stop him getting dumped by the mighty Bastl in 2002...so what's your point?
Haas needs Gasquet to be some way below-par to win, imo...but certainly not impossible as far as things go with Gasquet.
Anyway, I see a bit of value in Querrey @ 3.85 and Jenkins @ 3.90 (lowest system stake for Jenkins) today...for the latter, if only to fade Nieminen in the state he is in these days. GL.
EDIT - also played a lowest system stake on Navarro @ 7.50.

Re: Backhands Tuesday
Jarkko Jenkins over 36.5 1.85
Jarkko is playing like shit but still not comfortable to fade him cos Jenkins lacks 5 set experience and Jarrko played good in Wimbeldon and RG...expect a close Fight here both of them not so good to overplay opponent...and 3 set doesnt look fair to me...so taking chance here
Berdych Querry over 37.5 1.85 not looking like a 3 set matchup
Federer Gonzales under 26.5 1.85 I hate myself for taking this mug bet...but i cannot ignore what i saw in Umag....i dont want to underasitmate any player...but even a bad Fed sholud be too much and see Maximo in problems in every single service game... and really think that 8 games is his top in this match...

Re: Backhands Tuesday
I know that you cannot judge anything like this ...but frow i saw from couple of months...Gasquet with Nadal was one of the best matches in Toronto...and if he repeat any of that attacking tennis...Haas will struggle

I've checked all of Gasquet's losses on hard this year. There are two clear types of players he has lost to: top defenders like nadal and ferrer and hard-hitters like tursunov, andreev or tsonga. Tommy is a hard-hitter but also has a single handed backhand like gasquet which might explain the healthy H2H Tommy has.
To say this I think Gasquet's form isn't too good either. Remember how he lost a few matches on purpose this year.

Re: Backhands Tuesday
Surprised no one has thrown in the name Zverev yet. He is the other big play imo.

Re: Backhands Tuesday
Having a speculative play on:
Navarro to beat Gonzalez @ 8.0
Its possibly that Gonzo could have an emotional or physical let down after the Olympics. He has had some dissapointing first round exits at the Grand Slams in the past - vs Gabash last year, vs Bogomolov at Aus Open one year, vs Mayer at the French. One of those players that can either get knocked out pathetically in the first round, all go deep in the tournament.
Navarro is full of confidence at the moment having reached his career high ranking and his serve and volley game can be uncomfortable for players like Gonzo who like the game being played on their terms.
