Re: Grand Slam Monday at last
Good points.
To be fair, Darcis's 5 sets matches have been against Baghdatis at Wimbledon, Ferrer at Roland Garros, Hewitt in Australia, Haas at the Us Open and Stepanek away from home in the Davis cup indoors. Very tough matches.
I am not sure about Gremel being a bad match up, would have thought the typical left handers shot across court goes into Darcis's strength(backhand).

Re: Grand Slam Monday at last
Got some interest on Berrer over Acasuso @ 2.60...would love to trust him with a little more of my hard-earned cash, but his tennis is ugly at the best of the times, and his results against the higher-ranked are crap. But, ignoring these two negatives, he has a decent shot imo.
Also got some riding on Del Potro -6.5 games over Canas @ 1.83 - provided his level hasn't really dropped, I see him being better in all departments than Canas, and I'm expecting at least one pretty 1-sided set.
Struggling to find anything else really...as ILT says, the card really is poor considering the number of the matches available.
Darcis also stuck out for me, Jaap, but he isn't in good form at the moment, and apparently has an injury. Otherwise, I'd be tempted, myself.

Re: Grand Slam Monday at last
Gremlin tends to grind from the back and Darcis has lost to similar styled players in recent times, he lacks consistency. They both have a decent serve, though its Gremlin who posted good figures in the aces department. Also note Gremlins single handed backhand.

Re: Grand Slam Monday at last
Yeah, injury concerns have put me off.
My bets:
Nishikori to beat Monaco @ 2.5
Melzer to beat Lopez @ 1.96
Berrer to beat Acasuso @ 2.6

Re: Grand Slam Monday at last
Roko Swetting over 38.5 1.85
Im not buying that this USA journyman is a better player than roko...just maybe more fit and with more matchpractise...But roko likes big serving opposition and use some nice slice and is solid from the baseline...hes a nutcase and always showtime in his matches...5 set IMO here with slight edge to roko cos more class
Isner Beck over 41.5 1.85
expect more than 3 sets here Beck is more solid from the baseline and his lefty serve tough to be broken with Isners poor return game...Isner will enjoy the courts, balls and the crowd but think this Beck will take a set here so with 4 tough sets this over sholud be ok
Wawa Bolleli over 37.5 1.85
Odesnik Fognini over 37.5 1.85
Melzer 1.95
Berrer 2.40
Del Potro(-6.5) 1.85

Basically for 8/13 you accept the price where Isner will basically outserve Beck but if we consider 5set format it's not difficut to find out that in the 5th set format Isner will be almost dead in his legs (in a typical Karlovic's way).
Beck with +4 handicap for 1.85 looks way more pleasant here

Beck has had some woeful losses to the likes of boggo and zib this year, doesnt have any impressive hardcourt form this year, won some crap challenger and thats about it.
Playing isner in the us open will be tough for anyone outside the top 20.
good odds.

Re: Grand Slam Monday at last
Ive noted some big movers over night in terms of odds
Lopez was the 8/11 jolly last night, at this momment melzer is the 8/11 fave..
S.Bohli vs Vanek were both $1.83 yesterday morning now bohli stands at $1.40 (big move that one, i want to know more about this bohli, is any good?)
Nishkori has come in slightly from 7/4 to 11/8
Berrer is drifting for some reason
De Heart is getting some attention- anyone know anything about this guy?

Lopez has done jack for most of the year, while Melzer has been picking himself up for the last month or so...so certainly form, and confidence, is with Melzer at the moment.
Off the top of my head, Bohli was putting together some good performances in the challengers and has made good progress this year? Vanek is never one for the faint-hearted, and that is not just considering his tennis, if you know what I mean.
Probably more about fading Monaco on grounds of lack of preparation/surface etc, although it isn't like Nishikori has done anything of note recently, either.
For some reason there is a lot of love for Acasuso (even if he will eventually win)...don't think it is anything more than that tbh.
Player forums might give you some answer to that (not checked, myself), but otherwise I wonder if it is more about fading Rochus on grounds of form/fitness than anything else?
My 2 cents, anyway.

Re: Grand Slam Monday at last
Play of the day:
Medina G - Pironkova @1.50
Also:
Errani(tb Kostanic) * Rochus (tb De Heart) @ 1.70
Del Potro(tb Canas)* Soderling (tb Korolev)* Troicki (tb Ball)* Simon (tb Granollers)* Kohlshreiber(tb Horna) @ 2.30
And all this at 5.9.
GL all!

Re: Grand Slam Monday at last
Ana has been receiving treatment on her right thumb from an chiropractor/osteopath in Sydney over the past week. She has responded well to treatment and has had several successful practice sessions.
Barring any complications, the 20-year-old expects to be ready to compete in the U.S. Open, which begins in New York on Monday 25 August.
After Jelena Jankovic's defeat to Dinara Safina at the OIympics on Friday, Ana is guaranteed to be the No.1 seed for the year's final Grand Slam - she will return to the top of the rankings on Monday.
Ivanovic to lose??? thoughts?

Re: Grand Slam Monday at last
monfils odds are pretty high against hardcourt mug cuevas. gael played lights out in beijing. if monfils doesn't play on one leg i don't see how cuevas plans to win 3 sets against one of the best players on hard.
