Damn, the live stream switched to the soccer. Well, at least I got to see one and a half sets and it looks like David's cruising like a lot. 6-1 5-2 at the moment. His groundstrokes, especially his backhand crosscourt and return of serve were looking pretty good, and obviously he wasn't doing a whole lot wrong there. He started off the match winning the first 12 points. Daniel was not really providing much on his side of the court, then again that was completely expected for a player of his calibre.

David won his match 6-1 6-2 6-4. Daniel was more consistent in the third set from what I saw and was getting more of an advantage in the third set off his serve allowing him to take control of the points better.

1 down 6 to go.

I only saw the last part of the third set so I can't make analysis and I would appreciate if you guys do that. I am very very happy for those 13 aces and 54% first service is not bad for him, also never being broken saving 2 BP's. Is his 1st service back on track ? From what I saw that running FH is still a bit liability at the moment.

His forehand and return of serve was better in the first two sets so I would just put it down to his forehand being a bit off later on. He hit a lot of winners actually in those first two sets, although I think Daniel's defensive skills were rather poor and he tried to get to the net too early on in the point. I wasn't impressed by his serve much, I thought better returners would be able to handle it.

Thanks krystlel.

Well, Golubev next. Never saw him playing but I don't expect much trouble. After that Monfils - it should be an interesting match, Gael's serve here will be even more lethal weapon, but he won't be able to put such a defense as he did in Beijing. David should get his revenge.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. You had a great fall last year. Some players, I'm wondering if you think they play better in the beginning of the year or end of the year?

DAVID NALBANDIAN: Who?

Q. Just players in general. Are they better at spacing out how they play over the entire year or do you think...

DAVID NALBANDIAN: No, it just depends. You never know. Sometimes you think you're great in the beginning, and you didn't get the best results in the year. They come in later.

Depends the surface, depends whether you like to play more. You never know.

Q. Some players, they win more titles in the first half and some in the second half. Do you think of certain players as being good starters and others as good finishers?

DAVID NALBANDIAN: No. Depends.

Q. You didn't feel that way last fall?

DAVID NALBANDIAN: No.

at the interview but to be fair on him:why ask the same stupid question four times?
Nice to see he got the win. I hope he is able to play some good matches here and stay painfree. That is really my main concern at this point. Good luck David.

He used to be GREAT at Aus Open...
2003 QF
2004 QF
2005 QF
2006 SF
So the question becomes more stupid. He was just great last opening. No more talk.
Or is Del Potro a good "intermediate"? He won 4 tournaments in a row in July/August. Does he play bad at the beggining and the end of the year?
