Nasty collapse from Ernests at *2-3 there - blew a 30-0 lead with 4 UEs in a row and it was bye bye.

Gulbis played well? I only watched the second set but Gulbis played awful in that set, every shot 3 meters out.

Does Gulbis play with *NO* topspin at all ? Dreadful, just no control.

Gulbis looked spent in that second set. He was in complete ball bashing mode in order to end points quickly. Looked like the heat got to him.

Davydenko played solid tennis throughout. Hope that continues. He's been so up and down lately. Good job, Davy!

gulbis played well on the first set..

he showed some good shots.. and even broke when davydenko choked serving for the set

he was hitting nice winners.. on the second set, as others commented, he faded at 3-2* and that was it for him

i liked the way he played, even though he didnt win, davydenko looks really really comfortable under these conditions

he is one to watch IMO

Default Re: Beijing Olympics '08 Rd. 1: Davydenko (RUS) d. Gulbis (LET) 6-4 6-2

Gulbis looked out of sorts. Broke Davydenko as he served for the first set, then gave it right back. After that, Ernests looked confused. Bad match.

Ernests has not played well by any standards. The only question is whether he threw out more forehands or backhands
