Here is your chance to write yourself into the Olympic history books alongside these previous Olympic legends:
What is Tennis Tipping?
In the game, participants pick the winners of all main draw matches and are placed in a knock-out system. That means each participant plays a different participant and whoever predicted the winner of most matches correctly, moves on to the next round. The same applies for doubles, but you're in a team format and your scores are combined.
- In case a player (i.e. the actual ATP Player) retires in a match, this match will be counted as long as one point has been played. If players are replaced by a lucky loser after the start of Tennis Tipping, these matches will be cancelled.
Olympic Games Rules:(READ FIRST BEFORE COMMITING)
Singles entries:
- Country limitation: no more than 4 players from each country.
- 64 direct acceptances, no qualifying.
- Fifth players are allowed to play only if one of the four higher ranked players from their country don't commit.
Doubles entries:
- Country limitation: no more than 2 teams from each country.
- 32 direct acceptances, no qualifying.
- Teams should be composed from the four (two) best ranked players from each qualified nation.
- Fifth players are allowed to play just if one of the four higher ranked players from their country don't commit.
- The same applies to third players of nations that do not have enough qualified players to form two teams.
- Additional rule: Top 10 players are automatically qualified, providing they find a ranked player from their country to play with them.
1st week:individual commitments (singles and doubles). 1st deadline:individual lists (singles and doubles) closed. 2nd week:players who qualfied to doubles can now team up.
How to send in picks:
Picks can be sent in as soon as the draws are ready. Remember, you pick a winner in every match!. Picks should be sent by PM, so that your opponent does not know your picks. Picks should be titled: [TT: Adam and Murilo are the 2 hottest men in the world, day #] (no-one ever reads this except qczi). Picks can be sent in anytime until the beginning of play each day. If you're still in both singles & doubles, you use the same tips for both. For doubles, you still tip the ATP singles matches, not the doubles! No changes can be made after the play has started.

Re: Tennis Tipping # 49 ~ The Olympics! Confirm your singles commitment now.....
:singer: Bibon's Daily TT Commentary :singer:
Chinese hopes of a home winner were ended with Snowwy overcoming both linus and a partisan Chinese crowd to reach the Semi-Final. In a tense and nervy match, both players didn’t perform to the best of their ability, but it was the Canadian who emerged victorious. Despite his somewhat ironic name given the conditions in Beijing, Snowwy has been one of the standout performers this week, and has the backing of TT expert TankingTheSet who has tipped him for victory. His Semi-Final opponent will be vamos israel, as he produced a magnificent comeback to edge past Marksman. The Israeli looked down and out at one stage, but took advantage of fatigue and a lack of fitness from his opponent to seal victory in a high quality encounter.
In the early morning match, JM-Del-Potro saw off alansk to set up a last four encounter with the only remaining seed Chris 84. It has been a remarkable run from the Italian Stallion, who seems to be the opposite of Samson, with his good results coming immediately after he cut off all his hair. For alansk, it pins further question marks on his Serena-esque attitude to play only the big events, as without matches under his belt, he evidently gets tight in the latter stages of tournaments. Slovenian Chris 84 battled through in a hard fought clash with Pigpen Stinks, continuing his excellent week thus far, as he is also through to the doubles Semi-Finals. Despite the loss, the American seemed satisfied with his week and was eager to leave Beijing and return to his native New York to prepare for the US Open.
Doubles Quarter Finals day at the Olympic Green was overshadowed as a feud between Caralimon and FiBeR turned ugly, after the latter blamed his more experienced partner for their 2nd round defeat. In a furious press conference, FiBeR criticised his partner for his poor display, saying he could have done no more for his country. Caralimon accepted responsibility for the loss, but the South American TT mafia took exception to FiBeR’s behaviour, and chief ExcaliburII punished him by forcing him to spend an hour in a room with Jeronimo. When play did begin, top seeds keqtqiadv/Tytta!. were surprisingly beaten by Slovenians Chris 84/Slokid in a match between two teams with very similar styles. 3rd seeds Labamba and Smasher were also seeded casualties, losing to JMG and bavaria100, who interestingly is the last female in the TT Olympics, proving that man are indeed the superior sex.
World #1 keqtqiadv suffered one of the most humilating losses in his career, crashing out of the Olympics in the 3rd round to Britain's Marksman. The Brasilian was never really in the match, and the manner of the defeat will surprise many, though he seems to be more focused in the doubles this week. The scoreline will bring under scrutiny his decision to stay in a private hotel, as critics who suggested he hadn't fully embraced the Olympics spirit seemed to be proved correct. Also, previously known as a safe player, keqtqiadv appears to have taken recent comments about his game to heart and has clearly changed his style in recent weeks. However, with embarrassments like this he may well reconsider his approach. Having been around the tour a long time without doing a great deal, this could well kickstart the career of Marksman, and if he carries on in this form he looks in with a great chance of claiming the coveted gold medal. With vamos israel awaiting in the Quarter Final and enjoying his "15 minutes of fame", it is a great chance for either to finally make a name for themselves on the TT tour.
Tournament favourite meninosantos sadly failed to live up to hopes, and he was beaten by an inspired linus in front of her home fans. The Portuguese star found his new fame tough to handle after being unable to sleep last night when his army of fans camped outside his room screaming his name. When the match began, he looked jaded and with an amazing backing from her fans, linus eased through. Despite the win, it was not a completely happy day for linus as she became embroiled in some off the court controversy with Tomek over their views on Tibet. Moving on, the Chinese star will now face Snowwy for a spot in the Semi Final, France's dismal Olympics continuing with Colt th Magnific's defeat ending their interest in the tournament.
In the bottom half of the draw, Pigpen Stinks extended his surprise run, seeing off a strong challenge from Poland's Vicek. The story of Mr Stinks has created such a stir back home that Michael Phelps is barely being talked about anymore, and President Bush opted to watch the tennis ahead of the swimming. Vicek was dejected after the loss, and became the latest player to suggest that retirement was perhaps forthcoming, claiming he isn't mentally strong enough to succeed and apologised for letting his country down. Chris 84 will face the American in the Quarter Final after overcoming a day of confusion in Beijing. Having expected to be facing greatkingrat, the Slovenian actually ended up playing muniu due to errors from the scoring team. However, the flawless manager managed to rectify the situation and give us an entertaining last 16 match, with Chris 84 narrowly going through.
Two of Tennis Tipping's longest serving players thrilled the crowd with a late night classic, as alansk edged past his old buddy Gavnich77 to reach the last 8. The Austrian seemed disappointed that alansk had refused to practice with him before the match, but the pair embraced in a long hug at the end, a moment which brought tears to many fans eyes, and it is now rumoured the pair will be teaming up for doubles at the upcoming US Open. Last man through to the Quarter Final was JM-Del-Potro, who despite having issues with the IBM scoring system continued his impressive form under his new coaching team of Charlie Kelly and Xavier Belgraver.
As the day came to a close, all the winners were invited to attend a party with some Bulgarian girl that looked like a man. However, with all 8 players opting to concentrate on their Quarter Final match, it was left to Jeronimo to entertain.
A rain affected opening to the TT Olympics resulted in unfortunate competitors facing a war of attrition after having to play two matches in a day in the searing Beijing heat. Top seed and world #1 keqtqiadv vindicated his decision to stay in a private hotel with wife scythe19pro instead of the Olympic Villiage as he battled through to the 3rd round, defeating sploush and Nadie. However, his wife was less fortunate as she was ousted by maldini, fresh from his training in the Swiss military. Many observers have noted that since his return from the army, the youngster has looked in far better shape and it is rumoured that the Swiss government plan to force slumping star Roger Federer to attend the military, believing it might revive his flailing career.
In the most eagerly anticipated opening round match, Albanian hero scarecrows' long awaited Tennis Tipping comeback ended in defeat, as his lack of match practice showed against 3rd seed greatkingrat. After the match, the TT legend refused to answer questions on his future, saying he "will take a few days off by the beach and contemplate whether to return to the tour full-time or not". The Brit followed up his win with another over muniu, leading a 3 man charge of Brits into the last 16. Veteran alansk joined him, edging past fellow has-been ZackBusner in the opening round before seeing off Crocodile in an epic, coming back from a near impossible deficit to oust the choking Frenchman. Marksman completed the trio as he rolled back the years to defeat Renaud in a tight clash and then ended the chances of home hope leoneo. Forever-Delayed was unable to seal a perfect day for the Brits, as he was ruthlessly jeered by the vociferous Chinese crowd for wearing a "Free Tibet" t-shirt during his bad tempered clash with linus. Watched by over a billion people, linus then claimed a spot in round 3 with a nervy win over SloKid.
On a day of surprises, 4th seed Tytta!. was beaten in a high quality match by Colt th Magnific and 5th seed Labamba crashed out to Singapore's balloon. The Finn, who had expressed his fears after seeing the draw struggled in the warm climate, and his worries were proved correct as the Asian spartan fought through. 9th seed KalleOnAir was another surprise casualty, shamefully turning up drunk for his opening clash and was deservedly defeated by Vicek. Without his personal trainer by his side, the German looks helpless and will be relieved that Crocodile will be with him for the US Open in a couple of weeks. After the Cold War and Rocky vs. Ivan Drago, Allez-Alejo continued America's impresive record in the battle of the superpowers by cruising past Russia's Dmitriy, much to the delight of the watching US President George W Bush. Compatriot Pigpen Stinks was a surprising double winner, as the out of form journeyman emerged victorious against both M.C. and qczi. There are also two Italians left in the draw, with Spadea TT continuing his resurgence and JM-Del-Potro seemingly inspired by his hero both making good progress.
This jounalists tip for the title - meninosantos looked in sparkling form as he finally secured a victory over long term rival Tomek in the 2nd round. The Portuguese youngster, who was recently voted the hottest player on the TT tour has built up a huge following among the Chinese girls, and received probably the loudest cheer of anyone when he carried the flag into the stadium for the opening ceremony. However, with linus awaiting in the next round he may not receive such support from his large collection of fangirls. Another stunning looking player, adee-gee was furious after losing to Snowwy in a high quality match. He bemoaned his luck, criticising Hyung-Taik Lee for the difficult draw and hinted once more at TT retirement, though he said he was thinking about a name change to Spadea TT #2 in the hope that this might bring him some luck. Snowwy is the sole remaining Canadian in the draw, and dedicated his run to shamed team-mate TMJordan who was sent home from the games after being found guilty of doping.

It would be an honour for me, but probably I'm ranked much to low.
Why are we using ranks from 9th June ? I've won about 50 places in doubles since then and I've won 30 places in singles. I think this is not really fair, but okay. If we get the cut off and you want to play with me, I would be pleased to play for my country.
Nadia Comaneci | Steven Redgrave | Mark Spitz | Carl Lewis
Teófilo Stevenson | Shirley Strickland | Cullen Jones | Vera Caslavska
Michael Johnson | Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean | Jesse Owens | Nicolás Massú
In the middle it's:
Muhammad Ali (alias Cassius Clay by then ) / Fanny Blankers - Koen / Eric Moussambani / Olga Korbut maybe? (I'd have said Caslavska as well....:shrug
