Yes, we've seen worse performances from him after a break. It's not too "disjointed" and he's not just retrieving.

But I can't stand Andreev's game, it's bad enough to have to watch one of his matches, please don't lose to him AGAIN, Gaël.

Great hold coming back from 0-40 down, 5-4.
But he never stands a chance on Andreev's serve, damn it!

The match improved a lot in the second set.

Unlucky for Gael to lose two breakers.

It was not really unlucky, he never deserved to win that match.
I found him too passive again at the end of the 2nd set. I preferred the middle of the match.

But well, he didn't embarrass himself and fought well on his service games, Andreev is on fire – how the hell isn't he even a bit tired??

Two breakers are almost always a bit unlucky.

That will come later. Berdych will destroy him .

Yeah, Andreev played ridiclously good, that was a bit annoying...
Gael just left to many balls short in the court, that's what killed him.

Well, damage, I will have so much liked that he gains this match, since the moment that he didn't play any more.

It is damage, it is necessary to continue to work now and especially not to lose confidence. He played well.

That was pretty annoying, yes.

The article in L'Equipe today, I don't have time to translate it now, but I'll do it later:
Quote:
TORONTO – (CAN) de notre envoyé spécial

A summary, it's not very interesting anyway:

"Breaking-in"
The new Rasheed version of Gaël Monfils still looks the same, sliding around in impressive fashion, the screeching of his shoes resonating in the highest rows of the stands.
Manicom plays a central part in the new team. He takes care of Gaël and of his things and introduces himself to the journalists who come to interview Gaël, while Rasheed is going about his business in the players lounge. Rasheed is a regular on the tour, while Manicom is new on the circuit and his only legitimity is based on Gaël's trust.
The new trio couldn't help Gaël to finally find an answer to Andreev's powerful game which obviously is a bad match-up for him (4 defeats in 5 matches). Good point, though: his recent injuries are apparently not bothering him anymore.
"It was a tough first round, Gaël says. His shots are so heavy. He always gives me trouble. And I'm not completely up there yet physically. I'm covering the court well, but I still lack a little something. Andreev on the other hand kind of surprised me. He moves better than he used to."
The main problem is the lack of match practice, that was evident from the two chaotic tiebreaks: "My preparation has been a bit short. A few more days of training and I should be fine."
What does Rasheed think of the match? "I haven't spoken with him yet", he answers half an hour after the match. What about the first week of their collaboration then? "I can't say anything, it's been too short."
Gaël only wants to talk about the match: "I was into the match all the time. I think it was not too bad for a first match after a break." We agree. He took to two tiebreaks a player who often used to beat him in two easy sets. But time is short for him to recover his status of Grand Slam semi-finalist. He can't content himself with a first round again in Cincy next week.
