I don't play tennis, so I am wondering about this. Whenever an opponent hits a ball to Roger's forehand and is up at the net, Roger always goes cross court, and about 90% of the time it ends up as a winner. For those who watched the match between him and Grosjean at this year's SF Wimbly would know what I mean.

Now, from a spectator point of view, after seeing him hit so many cross court winners, even I would expect it coming when I come up at the net, yet every time Roger just passes them.

Why is that?

i think they do expect it and they believe that they can block it. but they are surprised because rogi gets some new kinds of spin, speed and angle that they cannot have dreamed of!
