He tried to lose, but the other was too weak. Dommage lol
seb lost but I hope he will stay to keep arnaud compagny, he's alone there (no coach) and has anybody to talk with.
He needs his friend after such a disastrous week-end.

i guess they are mostly using this tournament for warm up, so if someone loses, they can still stay behind a day or two, before heading to new york.

it must have been a while since arnaud and seb are keeping each other company! an old friend is best when one feels depressed.

He wasn't out of action but he was surely too short for this match missing many break balls. He could have win this match but as usual he lost

First set : Arnaud was broken early but came back from 4-1 to 4-4 and saved 7/8 break balls in this set. In the tie-break he lost 6 points in a row to loose this one.

Second set : He lost his serve in first game but got one ball to break back in the game after and three others at 4-3 and an other one at 5-4 which he converted. He came back to 5-5 but lost again his serve and Melzer kept this break. In this set Arnaud saved 0/2 break balls an converted 1/5 (2/10 in the match)

He seems to be in a good fit to play quite good but fails on crucial points by the way many things to be more "depressed"

Go to NY now (after a big sleep) and wait better days

Merci Soulage! For some reason my scoreboard didn't work and not that I was trying hard to fix it lol

I'm afraid the US Open would be too early for better days, but let's hope, who knows... And nice to see Arnaud did not simply refuse to retire from New Haven but even played two good matches

And may I ask a stupid question... What's his next tournament after NY, is it Metz?!

Alright, at least he doesn't have too many points to defend. Just hope he won't drop in rankings too much again.
He'll have a lot of time for a good rest and all the possible kinds of holidays when he retires

Until the end of the season he has 100 points to defend especially 55 in Stockholm. There is a big big density in ranking between 70# and 90# that's why he moves a lot around these places.

I suppose Metz, Lyon and Bercy to finish the season and maybe an other one outside france (if he enters the main draws of them course)

He barely plays many outside tournaments after the us open.

Guy Forget was the guest of the tv show "beijing soir" on canal+ this evening, he was there to comment all sport results in the OG in general, cos he knows lots of french sportmen and loves every sport, but was asked about double "is is easy to get over after such a crual loss ?", his answer was clear: "I think we don't never get over " !!

He added arnaud and micka left beijing just after their loss, and arnaud won his first match yesterday. Which lets me think he follows the results of his players every day. Serious, captain Guy !

(video: http://jo2008.canalplus.fr/video_bei...px?PlayVideo=2 second part, 10 eme minute, only for france's residents, sorry again Irina lol)

article l'Equipe (monday)

He said he was obliged to play New Haven and want to forget all what happened in Beijing. He will keep a painful memory of these games, and their defeat will pass before all the other good moments in the atmosphere of the OG.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Top seed Rafael Nadal will begin his bid for a first U.S. Open title next week against a qualifier, after the draw was made at The TimesCenter in New York on Thursday.

The Spaniard, who on Monday ended Roger Federer's four-and-a-half year reign at the top of the world rankings, is looking to win his third grand-slam title of the year, having triumphed at the French Open and Wimbledon.

Should the seedings go to plan, Nadal will face 13th seed Ivo Karlovic in the fourth round, with a potential quarter-final against seventh seed David Nalbandian.

Second seed Federer, bidding to emulate American 1920s hero Bill Tilden by winning the title for five straight years, opens his campaign against world number 114 Maximo Gonzalez of Argentina.

The Swiss could play third seed Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, a repeat of last year's final, while Nikolay Davydenko would be his seeded opponent in the last eight.

Djokovic, who won his first grand-slam title at the Australian Open at the start of this year, plays Frenchman Arnaud Clement in the first round
