Default Re: Roland Garros 2008

They showed a little bit the match on TV not all because PHM's match.

Arnaud started well even if the serve of Gael was already good. Arnaud lost his serve at the end of the first set at 5-5 and then lost the set 5-7.

In the second set Gael quickly led 3-0 and even Arnaud tried, nothing goog happened. He made many many faults especially on forehand (around 25 during the match )

The third set was very difficult, he was drifting. At one moment he looked toward the stands probably toward Bruno and he was saying "Je peux plus, je peux plus " (I can more)

Of course he was frustrated and irritated, he discussed a lot with the umpire He also discuss the match ball

On his face at the end we could see a lot a frustration and maybe more, he seemed very affected by the match.

Gael didn't make a "big" match but his serve was strong and he accelerated when it was needed. Arnaud played "without" forehand and of course without confidence.

I hope Marine's day was better than Arnaud's match.

After the match
Quote:
"This consistency in the nullity is still a big performance. I found what I have done absolutely zero from the beginning to the end."

Does it exist a solution ?

well well well...I watched the last set, a nice lady gave my her ticket for the centre court... it was TERRIBLE
Arnaud was playing so, so badly, it was sad to see. Moreover he was in a bad mood, of course, complaining every ball, etc... he was booed but the crowd
On the ball match, stupidly, he contested the point, that was shoking. It was like he wanted to be hated by everybody. When I see his own comments, omg, I understand how much he feels so bad.
I hope he will make something in double, he can't leave RG like that.

ps: I saw benneteau and micka's matchs, how great ! Vive Micka !

Default Re: Roland Garros 2008

On TV we got also the impression that majority of the crowd was for Monfils. But good if you saw others interesting matches.

I collected some comments which I tried to translate (sorry)
Quote:
Quote:
How is your mind after such a match? You are irritated?
" a little irritated, a little deprived, a little disgusted, a little quite at the same moment. A little, I do not understand. It is a mixture of all this. Sometimes, we can bring out explanations, we can say " today, I was less good, because this or this " but on that match, in the best of five sets, to have this constancy in the nullity, it is a big performance! "
You do not even save yourself until 5/5 in the first set
" I find it totally bad from the beginning to the end. Everything was rotten, awful. I was bad in all the compartments of the game. There was nothing to catch up the other one. It is rare to go out of a match and what there is even no micro points positive somewhere. There was really nothing. I cannot say that today, I made correctly one thing, even correctly, there was nothing. Physically, Im good. And nevertheless, we saw a guy physically outside on the ground. On the court, it is the only thing of which I was sure today, I did not move well, I felt good nowhere. It was the match of the death. I do not know what I can say to you of the other one. "
Did you feel it coming?
" iIn no way, I was happy to play, to return on the court. I was very motivated. There was a first set, then the second. I said myself " it cannot last so, continue to try. " Well if, it could! That's it. After the weeks and weeks of preparation which I made to manage to return well, bring out of this match today, morally, it is a little bit difficult to take. But morally I am strong, thus it will go! For the next adventures! "
You can say a word of the match of Gaël?
" he will speak to you about it very, very well at 7:15 am!
To go out of such a period, sometimes, we want to change something. Can you change something
" I cracked my racket, I have 5 there to crack and later, I can take a new serie. To change? no, there are moments when it is as it. I think that today, I miss so so confidence in my game, in my that, maybe that to play on the Central, on the surface which is not mine, is even more revealing than somewhere else. I have to find the confidence, it is going to gather week after week, but to change something radically, no. The important it is, in a season, to work regularly. It is what I make. Even if it was useless today, it will be not no doubtless all the season. And if it is the case, then there, I shall have maybe to think of making other things. But this situation will not arrive at once. See the guy who, after such a match, trusts yet ! I am monstrous!
" You have already made such a match?
" on a big court as it, rarely. I made average, bad contests, but the global quality of this match was so bad. There are contests which can be as it, but from A to Z as it, it is hallucinating! It is as it. There are graver things not? "
An article :
Quote:
Quote:
Arnaud Clément was down after his elimination in the first round of Roland-Garros by Gaël Monfils on Wednesday: " this constancy in the nullity, it was a true performance ", he estimated
" Sincerely, it was completely useless from the beginning to the end, really rotten, bad in all the compartments of the game. There was nothing which caught up the other one. It is rare to go out of a match and that there is not even a micro points of positive ", pulled the Aixois after the defeat 7-5, 6-3, 6-1.
"The worst it is because I felt hit coming in no way, even during the match I said to myself that that could not last like that. Well, yes! After weeks and weeks of preparation to try to return well, to bring out this match there is morally very difficult to take ", he added.
Clément crosses a difficult phase for several months - a single victory on the circuit ATP since the beginning of the year and does not appear any more today than the 95th
"If it is like that useless all the season, I shall have maybe to think of making the other things", he released, even if he " like everything in the tennis except what I made today "
And on the website of L'Equipe some adds :

Quote:
The most important is to have fun, to take pleasure : on qualification, on Challenger or on "Grand Prix" and when someone gave him the DVD of the match he said : " I will frame it"

Yes, it was the case at least in the last set when I was there, but it was a bit "normal", arnaud was pathetic. He helped the crowd to choose a favorite. It wouldn't has been easy to support him today.

At least he didn't lose his sense of humor and selfderision.

In the third set, for sure, he sunk. I'm very impressed by his optimism

They don't play tomorrow on Doubles surely friday but Micka will have his third round same day? If they win he couldn't go to Surbiton.

at least this match won't make the highlights of the day on the tv show.

we can understand his frustration when he explains it... but still, it's no excuse to embarrass himself and turn people against him on court. he sure is cementing his bad reputation

why can't he show his humour WHILE losing? it's not like he's expected to win. or is it?

thanks again soulage, for your comprehensive reports

France Télévision has chosen it to be "the match of the day" on their website so if some people are interested by an useless match

You can see all the match here : http://roland-garros.france4.fr/inde...id_article=117

I don't know if it works outside France ?

sure i can watch it... the whole 2 hours 6 minutes and 2 seconds of it in all its glory!!!

does higherlaw want to miss it again?

anyway, arnaud is back on court today with mika, who's also playing in the singles. so we'll expect arnaud to carry the team when mika gets tired

Nice that someone would give up their ticket to you!

It's too bad that you waited all year to finally see him play and than you have to witness what you did. I remember once you told me that it's hard to be an Arnaud fan; I guess you know that all too well...

Thanks soulage for the articles and translations. I really appreciate it!

They lost 5-7 / 4-6

I followed it on scoreboard.

In the first set until 5-5 none break ball and if I don't make a mistake at that time it's was Arnaud on serve : they were leading 40-00 but they lost this game on the only break ball of this first set.

In the second set, they were leading 2-0, Cuevas-Horna came back to 2-2.

At 4-4, Micka lost his serve (I think it was him on serve)

So RG it's finish for Arnaud. I don't know what will happen with the qualification for Olympics Games now? They haven't win a match in doubles since Davis Cup!

Good luck for Micka in single anyway

I hope Arnaud will play Surbiton
