Re: Ernests' news thread!
I've always said before that he needs a new coach so I'm very glad that there's change in that direction. I just hope that he will find someone who will be a very good influence on him. This is a very critical point in his career. Good luck, Ernie!

Re: Ernests' news thread!

Re: Ernests' news thread!
Tennis coach Karl-Heinz Wetter and the 20-year-old Latvian Ernests Gulbis will go seperate ways.
The Lower Austrian and the top 50 player decided after the ATP tournament in Delray Beach to end their collaboration which lasted 14 months.
Wetter states that the reason for the breakup was not because of his game or results, but rather his mental problems in general.
The former coach of Melzer also said that he has already got two new international offers, but he could also imagine working in Austria again.

Okay, thanks.
Well, we already knew Karl couldn't handle him. It's better this way. I hope Erno thought about it for a while before and had already a coach ready, to replace Karl. But knowing him... . Although I really think he doesn't only need a coach, he needs a mental coach too. A normal coach can't solve all the problems - physical and mental - by himself. Maybe he needs a female coach At least they can multitask.

Re: Ernests' news thread!
I've been looking for news on that page no later than yesterday, I guess it's very recent then.
I think it is interesting that they put "Mentalitätsproblem" between quotation marks. I guess that's really the word KH used. Also they didn't make it clear whose mentality problem it is, but I guess they can only be talking about ernie's attitude right?

Re: Ernests' news thread!
That was the word that worried me too. I started thinking about scenarios like "he doesnt want to play anymore, or he doesnt like the game" again .

Re: Ernests' news thread!
the sentence is actually ambiguous, it could also mean that their 2 personalities don't match, but I don't think that's what it is...

Re: Ernests' news thread!
hmm, maybe its kind of like Brad Gilbert and Andy Murray. They worked well together at first but Andy use to have bad mental issues on court with outburts and such..and we all know Ernests can get very down on himself on court. Maybe KHW just didn't know how to handle the metal aspect of Ernests game only the physical.

I guess they were referring to Ernests, too.
Maybe Karl did not use that word, maybe he just talked in a roundabout way and they chose to use that word, as they could not report a longer statement. But as Mentalitätsproblem could be seen as a word with a little bit "strong" meaning, they chose to put it between quotation marks, just to avoid troubles.
Ok, now that I gave the world a further proof of my Latvian-ness I can sleep peacefully...

don't worry I understand you. maybe that's a proof that I'm being latvianized myself?
anyway I'm not sure Mentalitätsproblem has such a strong meaning, but I guess we'll never know the truth

Re: Ernests' news thread!
Right, as always we are not allowed to know the truth just imagination and speculations - gosh, Im gonna die because of this!
I didnt mean Mentalitätsproblem has a stronger meaning than mental problem, anyway. Just that if Karl didnt use that word, and the journalist still wanted to use it, the journalist may have thought to put it into quotation marks not to be responsible for using it. Even if we are used to that, it is not good to say someone has a mental problem
