I'm also watching this match and I don't think it's too bad. As Ancic double faulted twice to give Henman a rebreak it's obvious that they cheer and every other crowd would do the same if their favorite broke his opponent.

I agree Neely. It's quite polite really. It's not near a rowdy Davis Cup crowd even.

Well, I agree with Scotso--while I dont think they are jerks, they are not polite. I mean, they did make a lot of noise for Ancic's double faults, which isnt nice. I realize they were trying to encourage Henman though. So, it makes sense...
but anyway, I think it's funny, how they come in their face paint and flags and treat this like it is another Euro 2004 ENG vs. CRO. It's tennis-- get over it!

lol, Davis Cup matches, OMG... I remember some matches about a decade ago as Germany and Austria played a few Davis Cup ties away in South America and it must have been the worst crowd(s) I've ever seen in my whole life... THAT was really really very bad because it was nothing about cheering for your favorite but it was only intended to distract the opponents. Or how else should I call that if spectators shouted continously right into play while the opposing player was in the middle of his 2nd serve motion.
During a Muster match I think I can even remember that there was a point and game penalty for the home player because the crowd has gone so wild. That was really bad, it was all about intimidating the visiting players...   |

Are we watching the same match? They even did applaude Ancic at the end.
They weren't "cheering madly for double faults" LMAO... Just because people "cheer" after a double fault doesn't mean people were actually cheering that double fault, but just giving Henman support for the upcoming points.

whether or not they were cheering FOR the double faults is irrelevant, when someone hits one, it is not "polite" to "cheer"
