Re: Riga Mortis: General Latvian tennis talk
Ernie is two years younger than me I call my cousin kiddo and he's about that age.

Re: Riga Mortis: General Latvian tennis talk
Oh okay, it would've been taken as an insult here in Belgium That's why I think it's a bit strange to call someone kiddo when you're not at least 20 years older than that person But go ahead, I'm not stopping you. It's cute how you call him kiddo

Re: Riga Mortis: General Latvian tennis talk
Ah, okay it's more of a brother/sisterly gesture of affection here to call somebody 'kiddo' - unless it was deliberately phrased as an insult, of course

Re: Riga Mortis: General Latvian tennis talk
I once said that as a joke and they called me arrogant immediately That's actually the reason why I reacted on you Living in Belgium is killing me slowly...!

Well, it was meant to be funny!I know Andis is older than us but
I always say "son/daughter" to anyone(even to my mum!) Im like Lola Dueñas/Soledad in "Volver", the movie by Almodovar - a movie I'd suggest to anyone...

Re: Riga Mortis: General Latvian tennis talk
We used 'kiddo' back in high school as well, amongst friends it was a pretty common term.

We also used 'makcik' or 'pakcik' sometimes, which literally means 'aunt'/'uncle'/'old person' see, not that different

I used to call my friends "kids" like in "let's go kids" or something, they didn't like it, I had to stop doing it

Re: Riga Mortis: General Latvian tennis talk
Ooh he'll play Niels, that's cool He's a big guy with an agressive style of play. Our country expects a lot from him...
And we actually have another Belgian boy in the quarters, Ruben Bemelmans.
May the best man win
