Re: The statistical tribute to Davide Sanguinetti (1990-2008)
The most interesting matches in Sanguinetti's career in my subjective view:
1994 Nice 1R, S.Edberg 6-4 2-6 4-6
* It was Sanguinetti's debut in an ATP tournament. Edberg was top-seeded.
1997 Monte Carlo 1R, A.Boetsch 2-6 7-6(6) 4-6
* Davide (q) in his 6th ATP tournament was very close to win first match on the Monte Carlo's centre court. He saved MP in the TB and was leading 4:2 in the 3rd set but had cramps and lost another 4 games
1997 Scheveningen 1R (CH), M.Safin 7-5 0-6 6-7(4)
* 17 year-old, unknown Safin ended amazing Sanguinetti's streak of winning 14 tie-breaks in a row (all levels + qualifying). It was a sensation because one week earlier Davide won Challenger in Oberstaufen.
1998 Atlanta 1R, P.Sampras 3-6 7-5 5-7
* Sampras was No. 1. The match lasted two days because of bad weather, was interrupted at 3:2 for Sampras in the 1st set and finished next day.
1998 Wimbledon 4R, F.Clavet 7-6(3) 6-1 6-4
* Davide advanced to Wimbledon's quarterfinal playing first tournament on grass
1998 Milwaukee, Davis Cup, SF, T.Martin 7-6(0) 6-3 7-6(8)
* Martin saved 4 match points in the 3rd set but lost his own set point and 5th match point a moment later. After this rubber Italy was leading 2-0 against USA...
2000 Venice, Davis Cup, C.Rochus 2-6 5-7 7-6(6) 6-1 5-7
* Rochus won first two sets and was leading 5:2 in the 3rd set. However, Sanguinetti saved 3 match points and tied the match at 2 sets apiece. Finally Davide lost on 6th match point after 4 hours, with tears on the face.
2002 Milan F, R.Federer 7-6(2) 4-6 6-1
* The biggest success in career! Davide was on a verge of defeat in the 1st round (was losing 2:4 in the 3rd set to Vinck).
2002, Delray Beach F, A.Roddick 6-4 4-6 6-4
* After many years, these two final wins over Federer and Roddick are definitely more valuable because they reached later the peak in men's tennis
2003, San Jose F, A.Agassi 3-6 1-6
* Another final against one of the greatest players in history. Davide on route to the final won two matches in which had lost a set after wasting match point (Krajan, Gimelstob).
2003, 's-Hertogenbosch 1R, F.Vicente 6-0 6-7(10) 2-6
* Began the match with winning first nine games (6-0 3:0) to lose after wasting 3 match points
2005, US Open 3R, P.Srichaphan 6-3 4-6 6-7(2) 7-6(6) 7-6(5)
* Night Session on the Luis Armstrong Stadium. The longest and probably the most spectacular match in Sanguinetti's career. The Italian was two points away from loss in the 4th set and saved a couple mini-match points at 5:5 in the 5th set - that game went on deuce 6 times.
2006, Toronto 3R, J.Nieminen 6-3 3-6 6-7(10)
* Qualified to the main draw, beat Nalbandian in the 1st round 6-1 6-2 (!) and was 5 times only one point away from reaching quarterfinal, for the first time in Masters Series.

Re: The statistical tribute to Davide Sanguinetti (1990-2008)
He was a patient guy. So many years in Satellites, then in Challengers and finally two ATP titles in late twenties...
