Federer is declining rapidly mainly in 3 things:
1 - His Return of Second Serve.
2 - His Return of First Serve.
3 - His Return of whatever dafak it is Serve.

His legs shouldn't be giving in after only 4 hours on court in a SF on a slam. It's not like he was involved in a 6 hours battle the day before. If he wants to win slams on these slow courts he will need to improve his fitness. I still think there's room for improvement in that department despite his old age in tennis terms.

That semi against murray was really painful to watch. Not in my wildest dreams would i have thought that one day fed would struggle like that against murrays (formidable) pushing. I never quite noticed a dramatic decline until that match which was a real eye opener. To his fans who are clinging on to the fact that he fought valiantly t take it to five sets i would say stop fooling yourselves because the only reason this match wasn't over in three was due to Murray's clowning. I can imagine him thinking he has nothing to lose and every win is a bonus at this point but i sincerely hope he doesnt make a habit of losing like that and retires before he tarnishes his legacy any further. He is a great competitor but his fans all over the world arent ready to see him losing ugly.

Damn, I wish we had the fast courts. Rog always tears it up on the fast courts. Sick of Djokovic finals. Bring back the carpet.

It's sad but you can't go against age. Fed's been very defensive since 2009 (he won Wimbledon with his serve) and only marginally improved under Annaconne with some glimpses of brilliance. Success equals defending nowadays and Djokovic does that well.

Even Murray served better than Karlovic & Roddick. LOLOLOL Federina looked like he just stumbled into tennis by accident. Fed the fraud maestro ballerina.

What if I told you Federer has been moving towards becoming just another baseline player since 2003?

Fed has been an offensive baseliner during his prime and that's why he was successful. Surely you don't think I and other Fed fans think he's a serve-and-volleyer .

I wouldnt look too much into what happened here. This is easily Feds worst slam. He still beats everyone easily except for the two marathon runners and the best bashers. Although i am a bit worried that he will start to lose more to Berd/Tsonga/Del Potro in the future. However, i still think he can win another slam if everything goes his way.

As I said, he's becoming more and more defensive since 2007. He is biding his time in rallies because his movement is not good enough to get him into a position to hit a winner and the surfaces also do not allow him to do so (the explosiveness on his shots has also declined). What are you trying to prove anyway?

I hate to admit it but his age is starting to show. he can't recover as fast. also it was very rare in federer's history that he gets into 5 set matches so even that is starting to bother me. But i also have to say that maybe it's not Federer but it's Djokovic. i still can't count murray because he has not beaten a fresh federer in a slam. in the olympics, federer got burnt out by del potro and in the aussie he got burnt by tsonga. Only two other players can i fully admit that have been more superior than fed on several occasions and that those two are Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic

Someone said (I think it was NYCtennisfan) that Roger had 7-8 good slam runs in him (that was at the start of 2012) and it seems to be the case. Physical decline is really going to settle after this year. Hopefully he doesn't call it quits because of that..
