So sad to see that Roger is almost 400pts behind Rafa on the race ranking now!

Yep, Nadal extends his lead over Federer to 369pts...a lead which certainly won't be "challenged" any time soon, and is bordering on being realistically unassailable. Kiefer made a nice move from #56 to #24 with his finals run, while the two SF'ists each made significant headway...Simon in moving clear of a tight-knit bunch occupying the lower end of the top 20, and Murray in securing himself a comfortable #6 place, which he will hope to defend over the coming weeks.

A very interesting TMS Cincinnati in store, if the draw is anything to go by...

Given that Federer has 300 race points more than Nadal from US Open 2007 until TMC 2007, that means that Roger will need to score 70 race points more than Nadal in Cincy and the Olympics just to have the #1 seed at the US Open.

Oh, Come on. Don't take it against you. It's more of Djokovic not living up to the expectation.

Vamos Rafa!

So has Djokovic regained his lead in the race over Roger with his results this week? It appears to be the case.

Yep. Fed will have 701 pts on Mon. Djokovic has 719 by making the SFs.

Top 25 updated to SF stage...apologies for the delay.

As you will see, there have been no "new entrants" to the top 10 this week, with Karlovic needing to win the title (unlikely) to buck the trend. Anyway, taking a closer look, it is fairly apparent who the "major earner" is...Muzza's SF appearance sees him leapfrog Ferrer into #5, and a win over Karlovic, today, would see him bear down on the out-of-form Davydenko at #4...so competition for the #4 position looks to be very much on (unless Kolya finds his range damn quick), from here on in. Roger's early defeat has allowed Rafa to claim the coveted #1 position in the official rankings (which week has yet to be decided), and with a lead of nearly 400 Race points over his nearest rival (could be as many as 430+ should he win the title) you have to wonder if the Race to the year-end #1 position is practically over.

Away from the top 10, there have been 3 "new entrants" to the top 25, with Kohlschreiber awaking from a recent slump of form, Tursunov continuing his better form, and, notably, Karlovic surprising with a SF run, which sees him move up to #18, and in with a chance of a further rise to #13 should be beat Murray, today.

An amazing week for Muzza, and he cements his place at #5 in the Race, and is a mere 7pts off Davydenko at #4...if he can stay healthy and maintain much of this excellent form he has been displaying over the last couple of weeks, it shouldn't be long before he overtakes the Russian, who has little to gain outside of the season's 3 remaining mandatories (also TMC).

Del Potro's 12th straight win sees him back into the top 25, at #24. With a winnable match tonight, and a relatively soft Washington draw next week, he could make further solid progress up the rankings, and is certainly now a player to keep an eye out for a potential top 10-15 year-end finish (potential dark horse for Shanghai, but likely to fall a little short), when you consider that through failing to make the cut for 4 TMS events this year, he can add 9 optionals to his ranking...Los Angeles will be only his 5th countable optional for the season!
