Re: Marin's Clay Court Season
MC Draw.
(4)Berdych v BYE
Q v Granollers
Q v Stepanek
Fognini v (15)Seppi
(9)Cilic v Zeballos
Janowicz v Anderson
Dodig v Paire
BYE v (7)Gasquet
Too bad that Del Po decided to play so Marin ended up being #9 seed instead of #8 which was a nicer draw plus free in 1st round.

Too good he didn't draw Del Potro. However he could have problems vs Zeballos and should loose to Gasquet. But he can beat him and than he will have the best chance to make his first semis ever on MS.

Zeballos is very dangerous, he's a lefty clay courter who's having a great year, won an atp 250 by defeating Nadal and a 125 challanger. Tough, tough draw, funny how Delpo always messes with Marin even when he's not playing against him. If Delpo stayed home Marin would have been #8 seed which would made all the difference.

Sorry but draw isn't that tough. Zeballos didn't do nothing after Vina Del Mar. He lost in first rounds 3 times (which two of them were on clay) and menaged just 3 wins. You don't have easy opponent in top 48. Then he has Anderson/Janowicz. They are bad on clay. Then he has in-form Gasquet. Could be better (Tipsarevic or Tsonga) but could be worse, too (Del Potro). He is 11th in ranking and 9th seed, it would be too much he is 8th seed. I hope he will play good and will beat Gasquet (or Sodig, why not?).
If he would 8th seed he would have bye, then he would face Dimitrov (who is good) and than Simon (who is in good form). Gasquet is in better form than Simon but that's not some big difference.

Re: Marin's Clay Court Season
Marin played great until 5:4 in the second. That was Marin like he used to be when he came on top. Then he played his worse tennidls until the end of the second. I watched just second half of the 3rd and he was just average like he is usually.
If he could finished match like he played before first serving for the match, that would be great.
Good reaction after loosing second set.

Re: Marin's Clay Court Season
Very straightforward win today against Anderson. Marin lost his serve once in the whole match and broke the opponent 4 times. It's funny to see (even though it's clay, but still) that a good server like Anderson according to stats won in average 52% of pts on own serve.

Re: Marin's Clay Court Season
Win against Gasquet would be huge for his confidence. I hope he's motivated.

Poor Marin, I would be so happy he isn't that mentally weak but Mother Earth made him that and that's it.
I can just hope Borna Coric (who is supposed to be croatian future top 10 player) will not be like that.
Marin just need to keep going "ahead" and stays possitive. He will have good/great patches in his carrer. It's not he didn't have before.
One big plus of today match is he didn't just go down after 3:0 in the second vs top players. For first time in his carrer, I think.
Pitty he blew first BP but on the second one he really couldn't do much. he should lead 30:0 in the last game (Gasquet was quick like a rabiit on drop shot). However Marin would choke that set.
