Re: Frank Dancevic
Stephanie Myles
Dancevic retires early in the third set to Ilhan. Had an upper leg thing, seems like. But Ilhan also ripping winners right and left.

Re: Frank Dancevic
it sucks that he can say that he qualified for all 4 grand slams this year but then also lost in the first round of each one

Re: Frank Dancevic
Back from the Open - not much to say about this match
Truth be told, Frank didn't look injured out there - he was simply being outplayed. Marsel was hitting winners and aces consistently and making Frank hit a ton of backhands, which in the only thing he was able to do consistently he was missing all the time. His serve was off, he was playing tentative, and the winners and confident play I saw against Clement were completely absent. His groundstrokes were coming up short, allowing Ilhan to dictate at will. The few times he attacked he was much more successful, but these moments were few and far between.
It felt like the match only lasted 30 minutes. I caught the first two sets, but left after the end of the second because it was simply a waste of my time to watch. So I missed the apparent medical timeout and/or injury break and didn't see the game before he retired. I videoed the game before he retired though and he's moving well. I will try and post tonight.
Credit to Marsel for some good tennis but this wasn't how Frank is capable of playing. These injuries must be so frustrating, seems he cant go more than a few weeks without injuring himself again. Must be frustrating as well to qualify four times and not win once - he wont get three very generous draws like he did at the French, Wimbledon, and US.

Re: Frank Dancevic
Frank draws the #3 seed Machado in Genova. Good luck to him! At least it looks like the hamstring thing is not bothering him too much.

Re: Frank Dancevic
Frank will play tomorrow, don't really like his chances, Carreno-Busta seems a promising young player, just won a challenger a couple of weeks or so ago, and obviously Frank's fitness is still a question mark. Good luck to him, though
