According to the Newport tournament's Twitter feed (!), Frank is scheduled to play. I know it conflicts with Davis Cup but I think this is a good move. Grass and Frank go well together.
Yeah, probably the best decision for Frank. A good Wimbledon and a nice showing in Newport and he can keep himself in the top 100, at least until his Rogers Cup points come off. Plus, going to play on South American clay could definitely mess with whatever momentum and confidence he keeps through the rest of the grass season. It leaves me a little frightened of our DC lineup, though
Speaking of rankings, Frank will be back in the top 100 for the first time in nearly a year when the rankings come out on Monday
Polansky will take care of business for us...! Ahem.
If he plays like he did this week who knows, he could win Newport. Of course, he could also draw Dent in round 1 and crash out early. I wish I could go, they're inducting Seles into the hall of fame this year, I always liked her.
I'm trying not to be too disappointed here but after Eastbourne I think we all got our hopes up a bit. This was an absolute drubbing by a guy who, before today, had won 3 matches this year. There was a 21 point differential... this wasn't even as close as the scoreline indicates.
Both Frank and Wozniak had a lot of momentum coming into today's matches and both bow out in R1. Not a good day for Canadian tennis!!
