02.01.2008 : Absage als Schutzmaßnahme
Zu meinem Spiel gegen Dimitri Tursunow bin ich heute in Doha nicht angetreten. Mein in Thailand verletzter rechter Fuß hat wieder geschmerzt und nur auf Schmerztabletten möchte ich mein Spiel nicht aufbauen. Deshalb habe ich diese Vorsichtsmaßnahme ergriffen, werde morgen nach Melbourne fliegen, mich dort weiter behandeln und pflegen lassen. Denn mein Ziel ist und bleibt die Teilnahme an den Australian Open. Also: Melödungen über neue Verletzungen stimmen nicht. Ich bin guter Dinge!

Withdrawal as security measure

I didn`t play my match against Dimitri Tursunow today. The foot I hurt in Thailand caused pain again and I didn't want to build my match on painkillers. Because of this I took this security measure and will fly to Melbourne tomorrow to get more treatment and care. It is still my goal to take part in the Australian Open. So: Informations about a new injury are not true. I am in a positive mood!

Okay, that doesn't sound half bad. In case he has to rely on pain killers, than the Aussie Open are of course the better choice.

if he thought the ankle would be ok for a tournament after less than 2 weeks it will be ok for Australian Open after nearly 4 weeks I think... and remember 2006! Kiwi never played a better Grand Slam than Aussi Open 2006 with his sprained ankle.
Still I would like to have a talk to the guy from the ATP Results website I already saw Kiwi in Donaustauf getting treatment next to Tommy Haas... So glad that it's "only" the injury we all knew about and it's so nice of him to keep us updated all the time.
