Sam is playing Washington qualifying this week. He won his first match against Sing 6-0 7-5. He will take on the number 2 seed Rhyne Williams for a spot in the main draw. That will be a tough one.

And now he beats Kudla 7-6 6-2. Now plays fellow big server Milos Raonic.

Groth's first ATP win off grass and since 2009. Also his first ATP win against someone in the top 200.

way to go big Sam - 20 aces, pretty awesome.
Nw repeat the dose against Raonic. Big serving match that will be.

Big serving Groth was not up to the challenge today, throwing down only 10 aces today but serving 5 doubles.
Faced 9 bp's and managed to save 7, but more of a factor was that he was unable to force Raonic to face any any break points. Groth's seconnserve win rate was respectable at 56% but Raonic was up there at converting 70% of his second serves.
Good tournament for Groth.
