Re: What was the last movie you saw?
I am Legend- pretty good but I found the ending so sad
Golden Compass- stick to the book; disappointed in the adaptation for lots of reasons
The Lives of Others- FANTASTIC- I highly recommend it deserving of its Academy Award

that was a terrible ending, it ended really fast, its not like was a 3 hour movie and they had to end it quickly, it wasnt even a 2 hour movie.

Yeah it was pretty awful especially considering the book is brilliant. Both my kids are reading it now ( yes we have 2 copies )

Not exactly sad-sad. But rushed, definitely. In a mere matter of seconds he suddenly decides he believes in fate and "meant to be". The whole butterfly-thing in the end was contrived. Anyway.
I am Legend. Overall OK, not great.

And I have a copy of Dr Strangelove bought ages ago that everyone in the house has watched sans me. So next movies are that one ( thanks for reminding me) and The Illusionist.
Btw I meant "sad" in that the writer/director ruined what should have been so much better. The book was about Vampires the movie almost like Rabies.

My pleasure
Didn't read the book, but aren't vampires rumored to have been suffering from rabies? Makes sense then
Hero was my last film.

In Che's case, also to poverty, suffering, and class differences. I knew about Che's future endeavours, but I hadn't known too much about his trip through Latin America. It also was fairly comical in parts. Fantastic movie, highly recommended for history buffs

You're not serious? Gael Garcia Bernal is my favourite actor of all time, I own almost every movie he's ever starred in. Don't be fooled by the romanticization of Guevara's life, it's not all it's cracked up to be, but he's still an inspirational figure for me.
I can't wait until Rudo y Cursi is released. Y tu Mama Tambien would have to be one of the greatest films of all time, so you must hire that one out sometime

That is such a stunning performance by Gael. Playing 3 different roles and each so convincingly. It proves his versatility.
Now that I've raved about Bernal, I'll get back to the topic.
Golden Compass-
I didn't know what to expect, and it started out very well. Then the story lost its way, I don't know if it was the adaption because I've never read the novels, but it was almost laughable in parts. Huge disappointment.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind-
Really touching story. Gondry is a genious, and I also recommend The Science of Sleep (again with Gael Garcia Bernal ). I feel like this was the safer film of the two having almost assured success, with The Science of Sleep being it's more risk weighted successor. It's the kind of film that requires patience and attention to detail, if you blink you might miss everything.

Re: What was the last movie you saw?
I Am Legend - I'm sure the book was much better, I spend the whole time watching it sad and scared, made me cry in several parts, including the ending.
