The trend so far this year seems to be one of these players breaks out at one of the Slams. Tsonga at the AO, Gulbis at RG, then they will get the bandwagon fans who think they just came out of the sky like a meteor.

I don't think that's fair because when a player has won/played a big match, sometimes that's the only time someone has seen him play. Like, I saw Gulbis for the first time against Blake. I feared saying something good about his game and future because I'd be labeled a bandwagoner.

ill say gulbis cause he has impressed me the most out of these players ive seen, ive seen him and kiorolev play live, korolev needs to learn how to play and not sure if he will...

my ranking would be:

1. gulbis
2. cilic - like the way he plays i think mentally he is the strongest of the group
3. tsonga - imo he will never be consistent engough
4. korolev - ^^^^
5. querry - hard hitter good serve but i dont think he has enough game to be the best of this group...
6. Zverev - just because i dont think bolleli and young will be better in the long run...
7. Bolleli - good player but wont ever be top 10 imo... maybe top20
8. Young - overhyped...

Pointed updated after RG and this was taken from the 2008 Aus Open, so Gulbis and Young had wins at the US Open, before this thread started.

Code:
1 Tsonga	6-1
2 Gulbis	4-2
3 Cilic 3-2
3 Bolelli	3-2
5 Querrey	2-2
6 Korolev	1-2
7 Young 0-2
8 Zverev	0-2

Cilic was the best performed youngster at Wimbledon, in what will probably be his worst surface.

As for the way this is structured, the points tally will close at Dec 31 of this year, then we will see the progression.

Gulbis played well against Nadal and no surprise Zverev won his match at GS level this year on the grass.

It's fair, like with Tsonga. He had been around for a while, then there was the massive explosion of fans, now he is injured, he is off the radar, then if he has another big performance then they will be back in full force.

Same with Gulbis he has been around since 2006.

It's easy to speak now that most of them are playing at ATP level, I think the funny thing was to point them when they where playing challengers.

I will modify my list then:

You may become a fan of a player late, bandwagoning is forming unrealistic expectations and then abandoning the player when these expectations are not fulfilled.

Too bad that Tsonga missed Wimbedon due to his knee injury, grass seems to be ideal for his game. Cilic and Gulbis so far seem to elevate their level at slams, that is very good to see.
