Well actually not shushed but ... it would have been funnier if he did that instead of telling him to shut up

Juan Carlos should be ashamed that Aznar officaly supported a coup d"etat against a democratically elected president i.e Chavez in 2002

When a president starts making anti-democractic decisions like forbidding freedom of speech or changing the constitution to suit his interests, then it's irrelevant whether he was elected by the majority of the population or not.

what's this about anyways? if america really wanted to get rid of chavez, they'd do it. they'd have done it already, if they cared about him. i guess it would take them a week or two to take him down and make it look like they're not even involved. the world would never know.

they don't even really care about that guy, he's a nobody, forget about chavez.

This is true. Nobody in the States gives a shit about Chavez. We all know that he's just blowing smoke out his fat ass when he threatens not to sell us his oil. The cost of transportation makes his country's oil uncompetitive with oil that is produced closer to Europe, Venezuelan crude needs special refineries that don't exist in Europe or China, and if we stop buying, he'll out on his ass, the victim of a coup, in a few weeks, after his country's economy bottoms.

Well, when I started this thread I was not even close to thinking about the US. I was thinking of the Venezuelan people. I have no idea what made Rrainer think it had anything remotely to do with the US.
Having spent 10 years in Cuba, I do not want to see the Venezuelans falling into the same abyss.

If you had been around in 1959 you would probably have confidently said exactly the same thing about Castro.

Well, I was definitely around in 1959, but Castro wasn't about to piss away some $75 billion in annual oil revenues (that's in 2006, when prices were lower than they are now). There's much more at stake in Venezuela, where oil exports are some 80% of all foreign revenues, and 60% of that is from the US. I don't see the military allowing Chavez to turn off that particular spigot.

I'm fairly certain that I can claim the title on my own terms, without anyone having to yield. Enjoyed your Mo Bear post.
