Yes, she was a great president  She was elected as a compromise candidate, too, but not as ugly as Zatlers. I remember watching the TV that night 9 years ago. The coalition parties at that time were trying to get votes for their candidates but nobody could get the required 2/3 majority. They had been at it for many hours and there was just no solution, nobody could get the votes. VVF wasn't in any party but she was the nominated candidate of a small outsider party so she was present at the voting. And suddenly everyone decided they could as well vote for her because none of the other candidates were winning. So that's how we got her After her first term was up nobody even tried to challenge her. She was voted in again almost automatically, she was that good.

Beh, hai ragione (senza poi parlare del fatto che i giornali italiani fanno proprio schifo, soprattutto Il Corriere della Sera, troppo commercializzato..mi stupisco che gli italiani siano così ingenui da continuare a comprarlo). Anzi, ora che ci penso bene, i giornali fanno schifo in generale, anche quelli americani.
Comunque, che Dio abbia pietà delle vittime di questa catastrofe. Ci penserà lui. |

Unlikely. I'll be in the office from 8a.m. to 6p.m., then I'll be making a 45-minute drive to New York for MBA courses, which means that I won't be getting home until 9ish.

Yes of course it could've been worse. And it's good they've got people out alive from under the ruins. Still it's a shock and personal tragedy for everyone involved.
