Default Non-native English-speakers, what's your best foreign language?

During my ERASMUS year in Germany, I was somewhat suprised by the number of exchange students who spoke German better than English. Some of them had used German since they were kid, living in Germany, going to a German school, etc. and that's why their German skills had developed so much. Also, some of them didn't have such excellent English skills and by the end of the year, they were already better in German, especially in small talk.

For me, English is clearly the best foreign language. I must say MTF and watching tennis and other sports with English commentary accounts for that a lot. I really need my English skills every day.

And as for this poll's question, I mean other languages than mother tongue that are learned after early childhood. I tried to choose languages to the poll based on my assumptions of where most MTFers are from.

Still by far English, despite my gazillion years of German lessons and having to use it on daily basis at work...

I've had 13 years of German, 12 years of French and only 6 years of English at school (my native language is luxembourgish), but when it comes to grammar and orthography my English is probably better than my French, because it's a much simpler language.

I read english, french and german online forums, and the French are by far the worst at writing their own language correctly. German and English are much easier to learn.

English, by far.

Can't wait to move out from here so I can speak English with everyone every day.

I really only know how to speak fluently two language, that's Spanish and English. I didn't show much interest in learning in any other languages to speak. So yeah, English is easily my best foreign language, by far.

I can understand Hindi and French a little bit, but I can't speak them.

The first language I ever spoke was Finnish. I forgot it immediately as a little kid when I moved to the kindergarten in Serbia. Nowadays my native language is Serbian and my best foreign language is English. I know a lot of Russian which I studied in high school. I also understand a lot of spoken Spanish since I used to watch Mexican soup operas on TV.

English by far, and even then I can't really speak it fluently.

Agreed, that's striking. Even if French is much tougher than English, I have to say some mistakes are ridiculous.
