Tokyo R3: Feliciano Lopez def Dmitry Tursunov 7-6(8), 6-4
I have to admit, I didn't see that one coming. They had never played each other before, so I guess there really was no way to know. Lopez makes his second QF on hard courts this year (first one was in Vegas). He did make one SF on clay in Stuttgart.
It's kinda funny. The man who won Bangkok loses to a man who lost in the first round of Bangkok...

Lalo doesn't get much credit here, but he isn't a bad player at all...

Wow. Feli has been surprising me of late.

"It" is also interchangable with fatigue.

I remember how Feli played against Roger, he can play very well.

From time to time, Lopez can play exceptionally well. Unfortunately for him and his fans it's only "from time to time". I saw some matches of Feli in which he was demolishing his opponents with a great all-court game (and yes, even backhand was involved) and I saw some in which he couldn't place two balls in a row.

Expected result and good one for Mitya. There was no point in playing Tokyo, to begin with, and now he can rest up for Moscow and other indoor events.
