Re: madrid
i know there is still a match to play against kiefer.
but is there some deja vu for federer against nalbandian in madrid. Sure roger is playing outstanding and if he continues, he should beat nabs.
But he was playing great tennis in montreal and we all know what happened.

I am not worried about Nalbandian. I have not seen him against Nadal, but against Djokovic, there was nothing special. Djokovic was dead-tired and not impressive at all. David did not have to do much to beat him.

Convincing on his own serve, but like yesterday not great in converting breakpoints. it must be 1/5-6 now. Kiefer is playing well though, hitting nice winners himself, particularly at the net.

Re: madrid
Thanks, I got me a working livestream now - Roger is playing well enough, but indeed seems to have trouble converting his BPs. I guess that is for a good deal caused by Kiefer's good playing. Not unlike yesterday with LaLo.
Question will be (hopefully!): will he be good enough to defeat Nalby as well? I think he will.

6-4 6-4
 Final, Roger!
Excellent timing for the break 2-12 and it's great to hear that again he is utterly dominant on serve - 10 points lost on serve, 3 lost on first serve.

Let's hope he has no such luck with the transitional no. 1

Re: madrid
Honestly, Kiefer played great on most of those break points, often he hit a huge first serve, Federer was barely able to return it and then Kiefer would hit the winner... He blew some, but Kiefer saved a lot of those by himself..

yep. Given federer's terrible bp conversion against many players, it is mind boggling to see where most players "bend over and take it" from federer.
kiefer played like a spartan. Brave but not enough firepower in the end.

Re: madrid
Feli played with passion against Fed in this tournament as he did at the USO. Roddick played with passion and determination at the USO. Misha played with incredible determination in Dubai against him. It's amazing how there are so many talented players out there who go out with nothing to lose, swing freely, and cannot beat Federer. It's truly a testament to his greatness.
As I mentioned earlier, he loves this court as it suits his game perfectly. He's going to have to play well tomorrow because Nalbandian is always a threat. Nalbandian's inside-out BH, CC Fh, and BH DTL pose problems for Feds if his movement is off. Should be a good one!

Not quite yet, but very, very close.
As it stands, Feds leads Nadal by 204 points. If he wins the tourny, he leads by 234 points.
Fed needs to lead by more than 150 points going into the TMC to secure the #1 title.
At this point, If Feds didn't play Basel and Nadal won Bercy, Fed would be up 134 points going into the TMC (if he wins Madrid) meaning that Nadal would have to go 5-0 and Federer would have to go 0-3 for Nadal to reach #1.
If Feds wins Madrid and reaches the SF's of Basel (22 race points), he clinches #1.
If Feds loses the final tommorrow, but wins BAsel, he secures #1.
