The "Slip-Sliding to Spain to Try Their Best" 2008 Davis Cup Thread!!
The 2008 draw was released today. The US is the #2 seed and drew Austria in the first round - we hosted them about 3 years ago so we have to go there. Surely it will be a tie on clay but we can do it  Spain's in the US's half so assuming Spain gets that far we will prob lose to them in the Semis b/c it'd be an away tie

This makes me even more stressed out about our beating Russia in the final this year because we have no chance of winning it next year.

We can get past Austria and then Romania on the road or France at home; but, I think next year will end in the mire of Spanish dirt.

As long as we stay away from clay but that is highly unlikely although I recolllect that US beat Czech on clay sooooo we shall see why are we talking about next year we haven't won this year yet?

It could have been worse. But it definitely could have been better. Austria (probably on clay) shouldn't be too bad and though I'll probably jinx the team I don't think Andy'll have a problem. Or with Romania or France. It's that semi with probably Spain that will be bad. |
