Default Another one for stat freaks

Is there a record on "the time between player's taking the first ATP title and the first GS title"? Who were the fastest?

Hmmmm...off the top of my head, Andres Gomez won his first title in 1981 and then won RG in 1990.

Looked it up, the title was in Bordeaux in late September and of course RG was in June of 1990.

I think this is the longest time it took to take a slam.

As for the fastest

Sampras won his first title in Philly on Feburary 25th, 1990 and his first slam on September 9th, 1990 so that's what, 196 days or so?

Edit: It's Becker (see below)...how could I forget about his Queen's/Wimby double?

Chang won in San Francisco in September of 1988 and then won RG in 1989 so that's a period of 259 days or so.

Wilander did it as well, but maybe the original poster already knew this.

Maybe, but if he did know that then his question is pretty pointless.

Becker won Queen's Club in 1985 and then won Wimby 22 days later. This is the fastest from first title to slam other than the ones winning their first slam tournament.

Borg won London WCT in Feburary of 1974 and then won RG a few months later. the time in between was 112 days so this is the second fastest.

1982--Barcelona, Bastad, Geneva, Roland Garros.

These were played after Roland Garros?

Yes. That list is in alphabetical order. The chronological order is RG, Bastad, Geneva, Barcelona. At least according to the list I'm looking at
