Me too
For 34 year olds, they've never had much success in majors - Julian Knowle had one Wimbledon final, though, that was great, and one other QF.
And Simon Aspelin had only ever had four GS QF. Never got further.
Further more, their career high ranks are 15 (Knowle) and 16 (Aspelin) - also, they've never won an ATP Masters Series.
So it's clearly a HUGE tournament for them. I think it'll push them to career high rankings, it'll be Simon's biggest final and a huge one for Julian too - and just a huge confidence booster at this stage in their career.
And, you know, it's a shame for good doubles players to retire without ever having won a Grand Slam

Re: Wednesday (9/5/07) OOP & Scores
I agree they play great doubles for their age. Wish I were that young.
Winning a Slam would do wonders for them. Even Jurgen who used to play with Julian is hoping they win this Slam. He was asked in an interview and said he is happy for Julian and wishes him great success.
4-2 now. They just need to hold serve.

Re: Wednesday (9/5/07) OOP & Scores
Just realised that Davydenko and Haas met at the same stage of the US Open last year and that Davydenko came back from 2 sets down to win the match.

Oh wow That's really nice of Jurgen.
I can't find any articles about Simon&Julian, though, it's so frustrating!! Barely any about their huge upset, and absolutely no pictures from the match Hopefully they'll have some from today's match.
They're just four points away now I'm sooooo glad for them!!
