I first saw Roger play at last year's USOpen against Andy Roddick in the final. That was only my second time at the tournament even though the arena is right next to my house. (I can walk to the stadium in 20 minutes.) I wish I had gotten better seats though because all my pictures came out blurry and unfocused. But in any case, it was a privilege to watch Roger play another fantastic final. I kept on cheering for him and I can tell that the couple in front of me were pretty annoyed but only because they wanted Andy to win. Oh well.

In 2004, Roger did not play Vienna any more and I am afraid he never will again. Roger beat Moya in the 2003 final. It was not a great final, Moya was poor and even dragged Roger down.

strange, I could have sworn Rogi was in Vienna that year; so he won Vienna 02/03 then... I shall amend my post! Rogi won Vienna03, beating Moya in the F; did he not also win the dbles that year??

Roland Garros
I wish he played Bercy but he skipped it so many times that i'm not expecting a lot.

NOW I get it! I put the wrong year! It wasn't 2004, it was 2002! So yes, Rogi WAS beating Moya in the SF of Vienna while I was in Madrid for the Sat. qualies... duh!

What would be the nearest tournament for you if I may ask?

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences Some of you were able to get to see a lot of matches during quite a period of time, so you got to see the development of Roger. Maybe you can tell us a little bit about what has changed during that time to see him play, for example the apperception of the audience.

Yes he did, strangely enough, I did not watch him play doubles.

I saw him in Rome this year. The first day (Saturday) I saw him training with Wawrinka, the second day (Sunday) I saw him coming out of his car to go to training ( I was SO close to him I couldn't believe!!!) and on Monday I watched his doubles match. He played with Wawrinka against Moya and Nadal and unfortunately they lost. These were three of the happiest days of my life. I hope to see him again soon, maybe in Basel this year or somewhere else next year.

I've never seen him play live, but I'd really want to - I think that in the future, I wouldn't be able to bear the idea of having lived in 'his' era and never have seen him play live!

As such, I'd like to know if there are people planning to go to a tournament somewhere in Northern Europe the coming year - I'd very much like to go with you.
