I think playing in Mumbai was a better choice because he was seeded no.1 which means that he has a good chance to win and there will be more competitive players in Vienna.
And about Tokyo, better flight from Asia to Asia than to Europe. It seems he's interested in Masters Cup. That's a really good sign even if he won't make it.

finally he is playing tokyo.Good decision
good draw too, all the "in form players" are not in his part of the draw. Verdasco,Berdych will fight each other 
hopefully he will go very far in this tournament.

an absolute beauty!! And did you see the insane fh cc he played serving at 4-3 in the 2nd set, even Oli applauded that. Everything worked today, at least most of the time, he had a little lapse when he lost his serve at the beginning of the 2nd set but that was understandable after winning the first set.
