Pere made the QF of Rabat last week, defeating Cervantes and Bedene before losing a tough match to Simon Greul in three sets. This week in Marrakech he unfortunately fell ill and lost 4-6 4-6 to Adrian Menendez. Pere has had a lot of bad luck with injuries and illness and unfortunately he was once again bitten with a sickness bug.

His next event will be the Barletta challenger in a couple of weeks. He still needs some points to solidify his place in the French Open MD so hopefully he recovers from this latest illness and goes deep in Italy.

Pere plays Burzi in the first round of Barletta, as the second match on the center court Monday.

It's a great opportunity for a win to start the tournament off positively. Hopefully he takes it without issue.

2-6 3-6 loss to Burzi in the first round of Barletta.

Unfortunately he is still unfit and will be going back to Spain to discuss with his medical team about future decisions. If he needs to take an extended break from tennis it will be best, if it means he can return to the courts healthy. Best of luck to Pere and hopefully whatever he is dealing with isn't serious.

Pere will have an MRI Thursday to determine his participation in Casablanca and future tournaments. Hopefully everything goes well!

Pere is able to play, but lost 2-6 3-6 to Ramos in R1 of Casablanca. His service numbers were very poor, suggesting that his back is still an issue.

Pere is down to #101 in the ranking now, this run of poor form is threatening to remove him completely from the top 100. His next event is Monte Carlo qualifying this weekend, hopefully his body holds up, and he can put a few wins on the board and qualify.

Pere wrote on his twitter today & to me it doesn´t sound too good
If I understood correctly (which is not 100% sure) he will be out for the whole season...really hope this is not true

But I still didn´t get what exactly his problem is...maybe someone here knows??

Pere unfortunately is having surgery on the labrum in his hip because of a tear and will out for 6 months, and the rest of 2012 season

He's been holding his lower back during matches and got treatment for his back during matches as well, but I guess what's been happening is his hip pain has affected him and he's been touching the upper part of his hip. Too bad, but at least he knows what his injury is and can take the necessary steps to get healthy. What's weird is that he's only just turned 24, and hip injuries usually affect older players. Hopefully this injury doesn't impact the rest of his career.
