Over the next couple of weeks I'm going to be adding some Euro 2008 plays and here are my first batch.

L1 (£100) Luci Toni top scorer Euro 2008 @ 14/1
PP (SI) - £1500

L1 (£100) David Villa top scorer Euro 2008 @ 17/1
PP (SI) - £1800

L1 (£100) Thierry Henry top scorer Euro 2008 @ 21/1
PP (SI) - £2200

My thinking here is that I believe Italy and France will make the last four and with that in mind you'd expect goals from Toni and Henry. On the downside, they are both in the group of death and goals may be at a premium. However, I don't see value in Ronaldo or Torres as top scorers, I believe their prices have been squashed as they have done so well in the Premiership this season, but that won't necessarily be reflected in Euro 2008. Villa takes penalties and Torres doesn't for a start. With regards Villa, I actually think Spain will get knocked out in the QF, so that would give him 4 matches only. As a contingency, I may be wrong, and so the price on Villa looks value to me. I am also considering adding Benzema for top scorer but I want to wait and see if there is any indication as to whether he is likely to start. He is a huge price.

L5 (£500) Czech.Rep to NOT qualify from Group A @ 11/8
PP (SI) - £1187.50

My feeling is that Portugal and Switzerland will go through. The Swiss were 5/4 to qualify, so I've taken the slightly better price of 11/8 on the Czechs not doing so as it effectively amounts to the same thing.

CR: 82-93 (-£6500.95)

And I have added a play for today about to kick off.

L5 (£500) Stockport to beat Rochdale (90mins) @ 6/4
PP (SI) - £1250

CR: 82-93 (-£7000.95)

Fluminense were extremely lucky to get past Sao Paulo. They were being completely dominated in the second half and managed to find a goal at the last minute. Boca will tear them a new one IMO.

Even though we have proven we can win away from home when it matters, I still feel like any home game is a must win. If we don't win at home here then I really think we are pushing our luck to have to go away and win again.

For those who don't know, remember we are not playing at La Bombonera. The match will be at Racing's stadium. I also think the price is fantastic, we are as short as 1/2 in other places. SJ are offering this nice price, take it before it goes.

Loss.

CR: 83-94 (-£6750.95)

We have to do it all over again. A bad result. An average performance. A dreadful goalkeeping mistake. And we still should have got a winner in injury time. Very depressing.

It sucks for Boca that they can't play at La Bombonera anymore, it seems they can't get the job done anymore at home legs.

Don't worry jayjay, Boca will win in Rio.

I hope you're right, Shotgun. However, I'm pretty pessimistic about things at the moment. To have to go away and win again is really asking alot. When the match comes I'll probably have a few hundread on us to win as I did for the Atlas match and be more optimistic, but today it's hard to look on the bright side.

Another dreadfully defended set piece and a completely pathetic mistake by Migliore. Up until that point he had a decent game but then he ruined it all, how hard would it have been to catch the ball? And we didn't recover well after the 2nd equaliser, we wasted 10mins before we clicked into gear again. The keeper made a great save from Palacio and I couldn't believe that the ball across the 6 yard box in injury time didn't land at the feet of one of our players.

Datolo had a horrible match and I didn't understand why Battaglia was taken off.

For those who didn't see the match and the horrible mistake, here it is...

Sorry to see that m8- initially the ball over the top, the guy should have been marking him tighter should never leave players to cross so easy

Any good goal keeper would have made the save against Thiago Neves. Though Boca drew 2-2, we haven't seen Boca lay down and admit defeat, plus Fluminense are known for being underperformers. On the day, Boca can wipe the floor with anyone.

Locking in another Euro 2008 play that to me looks pretty safe bar Italy. Maybe I'm making a mistake with them being in the group of death and if they get off to a bad start against Holland it could really hurt me, but close to 2/1 for the acc, I'm willing to go for it.

I don't think I will be making too many match bets during the group phase as I've essentially already got an interest with the pending qualification/non-qualification picks. I've also decided to pussy out of backing Boca this week for the win and will just let the outright play ride. Hopefully we can do it but unfortunately I'm not as confident as before.

Adding the Benzema pick. Remains to be seen just how much playing time he'll get, but if he does start and France do get to the latter stages then the price is too big to ignore. I'm really looking forward to the tournament, how can you not love two live matches on the box day in, day out?
