Florian lost his first round match against Thomas Johansson yesterday.
TJ is of course one of the better opponent you can meet in the first rounds, so I hope his two early exits aren't an early indicator for his 2005 season.

A season where he has the first points to defend after a good 2004 season.

Florian lost 1-6 2-6 0-6 to James Blake

OMG, seems like a very bad start for Florian into the new season. Please, not that Blake is a bad player, but we all know that Florian is way better than getting just three games in a 3 set match.

And Blake also returned just from injury, I think it was his first competitive match since very long time.
That's bad for Florian, I hope his good success last season wasn't too much for him and that he is "thinking" over it suddenly

I hope so too Neely. Really bad result and not a good start to the season

Maybe the extra rest will do him good and he can start fresh after the Aussie Open

Another rather disappointing performance by Mayer.
He got broken at 4-4 in the 2nd set after 30-15 up. Somehow this reminds of just too many other matches this season, he was doind the same stupid stuff like his compatriots

He lost 3-6 4-6 to Ferrero

Another 1st round loss, disappointing.

Florian beat Lars Burgsmuller in the first round in Miami and now has to play another fellow German today - Nicolas Kiefer. Good luck Florian - it's a tough match but he has nothing to lose
