Default Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

I am a bit late becoming a fan of Florian but I like his style and thought he deserved a thread

Good Luck Florian in Hamburg

bad bad result Florian lost 0-6 6-7(4) to Youzhny.

Florian got completely toweled in the 1st set, losing 0-6 to Youzhny...
the Florian played better in the 2nd set, he was leading with break 5-3 and 30-0 on own serve and still missed to close out the set and had to go into the tiebreak

he was very nervous at the beginning and he couldn't do it in the deciding moment.

Youzhny has really played good tennis in this match, especially in the tiebreak also.
And Mayer could show that he is a good player also.

I wish him good look for the upcoming tournaments! His play is certainly fun to watch

He is not in Casablanca or St Polten or the World Team Cup, so I guess he will be next at Roland Garros

Good Luck

Raquel, he has to qualify for Roland Garros, as his post-Estoril ranking improvement came too late for the cut-off. So this week he is in Paris.

Florian survived his 1st round qualifying match against Vasilis Mazarakis from Greece 6-2 6-2

even Zabaleta needed three sets against this Greek in Estoril, so I think a 2&2 straight set win is okay for Mayer

good luck for further qualification matches!

(Mayer will now face another German in the 2nd round, Dieter Kindlmann.)

BTW, Alex Waske has beaten Michel Kratochvil (not a bad opponent for 1st round qualification!) in three sets 6-4 5-7 6-3!
Well done, Alex, keep on!
