Default What Age Will Federer Play Till?

I remember a couple of yers he said inan interview he wanted to play until he was 35 like Agassi. But will he?
I don't see him retiring any time at all soon and think he will play til at least 32 minimum maybe longer.
Barring injuries even if he becomes not as good as he used to he will still be a potential winner at grand slams when he is 32 or 33 as Agassi was.

I think he will retire at age 32. Inbetween now and then he should have won two or three more GS so I think he will call it a day then.

He's always said that he wanted to continue until the Olympics 2012, to be held at Wimbledon.
Of course we will just have to wait and see whether he will do so. I surely hope so.

Agassi was an anomoly. Players like edberg, borg and mcEnroe didn't even win slams at federers current age.

He'll probably retire at 29/30.

Borg retired as 26 though so you can't say he wouldn't have won more Slams if he carried on.
And Sampras and Jimmy Connors both won the US Open at 31.
So Agassi isn't a total anomaly amongst the all time best.

I think there will not be a problem for Federer to play till the same age which Agassi achieved long time ago. Federer barely showed any signs of tiredness and chocks in all his tennis games so far.

Sampras is a bit misleading. That us open win was a miracle a la Ivanisevic at wimbledon. The last time sampras had won a tournament before that was aged 28.

Jimmy connors won late, so did Lendl. Those 2 and agassi are the big exceptions.

I did a statistical analysis of GS winners on another site last year. It found that over the last 30 years 76% of GS's were won by players aged 20-26. The 22 was the most common age for winning a GS and a little over 23 was the average age of a GS winner.

Over the last 125 GS's only 7 were won by people aged 30+. Even the great Agassi only won 2 slams at 30+.

Tennis is a young mans sport.

37...secretly, federer wants to be Ken Rosewall... its why he wears all this white get up throwback pimp out gear at wimbledon as some sort of mark of respect...

but, he will discover that he cannot be Kenneth... and so... 37, and epic fail...

You know I have a feeling he's going to play till a very old age. There will be a time where he'll never care about rankings anymore. He'll just play about 10-20 matches per year in whatever tournaments he likes and they'll give him a wildcard because he still has the game to win. So I suspect him to full retire at around 40-43.

I think as long as he is competitive enough. So, I assume until 2012/2013 at least. Don't see him play much once he drops out of the Top 10, though.
