Sunday, 24 June, 2007

Andy Murray has announced his withdrawal from Wimbledon 2007, due to his ongoing wrist injury. He is replaced by Kevin KIM (USA) (Lucky Loser).

QUOTE
"I have done everything possible to get ready for Wimbledon. I have played practice sets the last few days but still cannot hit a topspin forehand properly. It has been six weeks of really hard work but I'm not 100% ready. The wrist is a VERY important part of tennis and there are a number of players who have made the decision to come back too soon and ended up with long term injuries and I do not want to take the risk and make the same mistake. The doctor has advised me not to play and that I probably need about ten days to be ready. Unfortunately, I don't think it is going to rain for the next ten days. I love playing Wimbledon because of the great support I get from the British public and that is what I will miss the most"

Due to this withdrawal, the order of play for Monday 25th June has three court changes.

Blake v Andreev moves from 3rd on Court 2 to the 3rd match on Court 1
De Voest v Safin moves from 3rd on Court 18 to the 3rd match on Court 2
Lapentti v Kim (Lucky Loser) moves from 3rd on Court 1 to the 3rd match on Court 18

Okay they can put him back out on 18. That's what I get for complaining.

There is a short article in Bulgarian sports site citing Russian media (not specified) about Peter's forecast:

"Yesterday I spoke to Marat and I can tell that he is in excellent mood before Wimbledon's start. If he shows high class game, he would have power to beat even Federer in London ( ). I expect pleasant surprises from him on this tourney".

I had my laugh for the day Hope you are all well, dears

Thanks Anna, I am quite OK but I only expect unpleasant surprises from Safin.
