Re: Best Albums of 2007 so far?
There's a New Pornographers album coming out? I'll wait till a CD rip comes out of course.
1. Dear and the Headlights - Small Steps, Heavy Hooves
2. Maximo Park - Our Earthly Pleasures
3. Fall Out Boy - Infinity On High
4. Hanson - The Walk
5. The Shins - Wincing The Night Away
6. Limbeck - Limbeck
7. Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?
8. LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
9. Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Thing
10. Bright Eyes - Cassadaga
The Shins and Of Montreal albums feel like last year's albums.

Yeah, they have gone independent and have released two albums on their own label. Their songs these days are very singer-songwriter-ish, well obviously they have matured by now. Though I have to admit I haven't really heard their old albums, only the singles.

Re: Best Albums of 2007 so far?
would I be forced with a gun at the temple to choose between watching a WTA match and listening to a Linkin Park album, I'd probably pick the first and it means a lot.

Re: Best Albums of 2007 so far?
The new Linkin Park album is nothing like their older ones. It's very moderately paced, doesn't have much rap in it and is very dull. It might have grown on me had I gave it another chance but I didn't bother.

Re: Best Albums of 2007 so far?
Linkin Park was the only famous name mentioned here. Funny to what music most of you listen. How many copies do these unknown rock bands sell for each album? 10,000 worldwide?

my point is that today's quality of music is shit in general. all these bands no one has ever heard of have no potential.

no sir, the quality of music that you see on MTV and you listen on the radio is shit, main problem being that the music industry supports artists like Rihanna or Enrique Iglesias that can give the profit within short time.
there's plenty of great music produced every year, you just need time and patience to dig it on the web

potential ? If you talk about selling, yes probably not. But if for you quality of music is justified just by its selling, then you listen to music for other reasons than me.
