Re: Mariano's Challengers' Thread 2007
While Mariano lost in the first round last week, he managed to win the doubles title. That had to be some good match practice and let's hope it helps Mariano in his first round match in Italy on hardcourts
He plays Marko Tkalec, GL to Mariano

I'm really hoping along with you....I've looked forward to him playing quallies again and maybe even at Cincy this year....realistically though I think my chances to see him this year are pretty slim.....

Re: Mariano's Challengers' Thread 2007
Mariano lost to Leonardo Mayer , 7-6 5-7 4-6, he leads with 5-3 in second set, so this is very dissapointing again, for 3 weeks now he lost ikn 3 sets with 4-6 or 6-7, he is now ranking 185,and is not lucky at all this year, this innocent man, please come back, what is is email adres, so we can support him. He needs some mental help!
Otherwise he did not come back in the top 100 this year

Re: Mariano's Challengers' Thread 2007
Mariano say this for an book of argentine interviews
Why did you come back to play?" "Because I wanted to end my career on the court, I deserve it, and to do the impossible to finish with a good ranking. I had dreamed of it since I was a young boy. I always wanted to be the one who stopped the tennis, and not have the tennis stop me. That's why I fought so much for all this. And I came back to play to be up there. Because I always felt I was going to come back and play". (Mariano Puerta)
so come on mariano and win some tournaments

Re: Mariano's Challengers' Thread 2007
He's into the final at Bogata. If his ATP ranking is correct at 189 ...how high will a win in the final take him? Vamos Mariano!!!

Re: Mariano's Challengers' Thread 2007
Mariano won
After some relatively poor results lately, it seems like his hard work is paying off
This is his first Challenger title since coming back and a big one (125k) at that.
Mariano should be around 150 in the world come tomorrow
He is playing next week on hard in Ecuador, vamos Mariano, keep it up

Re: Mariano's Challengers' Thread 2007
Mariano Lost in first round (after 3 weeks not playing after the winning challenger), after winning 3 qualy matches in Uzbekistan, he lost like always in 3 sets and almost tiebreaks
7-6 6-7 4-6, he lost so often in close matches, that is very sad, otherwise he was in top 100 now, and now he is nr 149
But come on mariano next tournament is for U
